4 Stars Harry Potter... rarest of chocolates! Review with images 21/05/2005

Advantages Advantages Sort after Harry Potter collectable!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Almost impossible to find, not in shops.

I was looking through the Harry Potter reviews and I came across the ones for the Chocolate Frogs. My heart leapt! I haven't seen one of these in a good many years. All the reveiws were from before 2003, and since then these chocolate frogs with their collectable cards have almost disappeared (I've only seen a few expensive ones selling, shipped over from the USA on eBay). The UK release of chocolate frogs was made by the Mars company who also make Mars Bars, Twix and Galaxy chocolate. Bearing in mind that I haven't had one of these in over two years, I seem to recall that the chocolate tasted ... more

Advantages Advantages Made by Masterfoods (so not cheapo chocolate), Harry Potter, Free Trading Card

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive at 79p

Chocolate Frogs... They need little explanation really. It didn't take long for the Harry Potter phenomenon to catch on to the confectionary world, and already we are seeing many of the delights described in J.K.Rowling's books brought to reality. Chocolate frogs are basically just that - a hollow frog shaped chocolate. They're about the size of a... erm... frog?! Roughly 2.5" long and about 1" or so high and wrapped in green foil printed to look even more like a little green frog. For extra protection (i.e. so they don't get squashed before they're sold) they come in a small plastic tray ... more

Advantages Advantages Collectible cards. It's HARRY POTTER (nuff said)

Disadvantages Disadvantages It's the same price as 2 and a half Mars Bars

79p for a bloody chocolate frog! I need to visit Gringotts! But if you have got a pocketful of gold coins, and a whinging 7-year old kid pulling you around Tesco’s, then the likelihood is you will be coming out with a carrier bag full of Harry Potter Chocolate Frogs. According to a recent survey, 9 out of 10 children prefer Harry Potter. And this means that this Christmas will be full of Harry Potter merchandise. Well I don’t want a pair of HP pyjamas, or a pencil-case. Neither do I want several rolls of Harry Potter wallpaper to decorate my bedroom with, nor a blow-up Hermione doll(which ... more

    Advantages Advantages Nice Chocolate

Disadvantages Disadvantages to costly, short shelf life I would assume

It would seem that you cannot turn a corner without seeing something to do with Harry Potter. Even my two-year-old daughter knows his name. You can buy the toys, play the games (both computer and board), collect figurines and also eat the sweets, sweets such as Chocolate Frogs. What next? Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge fan of the books and the film, we have a couple of the figurines at home and I am quite chuffed for JK Rowling, how she has grown from humble beginnings to the millionaire she is. It is a nice fairy tale, not unlike the fantasy tale of the young wizard she has created ... more

    Advantages Advantages Its Chocolate yummmmm

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not enough

My little boy was into Harry Potter for awhile, so i decided to get him the harry potter frogs along with all the other harry potter sweets available, now when he gets something new i always have to have a taste, i thought they would taste like cheap chocolate, but what a surprise ,they weren't sickly at all they were gorgeous, the chocolate was thick in parts , mainly round the head and bum, i couldn't bite into them, i had to knock a hole in the bottom where it is thinest to get me going, but once going i couldn't stop. Disappointed in the size of them, thought they would be bigger, roughly ... more
