I always remember my Mum wearing this perfume when I was little, and I always used to sneak a bit when I was getting ready for school and such like. I love this smell, it reminds me of my Mum ( I know that sounds a bit sad!) and I saw some whilst in Suerdrug and decided to buy it for myself. I love it, I wear it everyday - going to work, going shopping etc. I don't generally wear it when I'm going out, I prefer Jean Paul Gaultier for that because Dune doesn't seem t ast for very long, and I find myself re-applying halfway through the day. However, the bottle is only small and it easily slips in my handbag. The smell is beautiful so I don't mind adding a touch more when I pop to the loos at work.
Lets start with the bottle: It's an oval sort of shape and it has a "panel" at the front that sticks out a bit. It's lovely and smooth though. It's got a gold top and DUNE is written on the front of the bottle in black. The perfume is a pinky-beige colour. The box it comes in is a rectangular box - pink at the top fading to a beige, almost skin colour at the bottom. Again, it has DUNE written across the front of the box.
Pricing: This perfume comes in 50ml and 100ml bottles, approx. £27 and £34 respectively. It's not the most expensive perfume around, but maybe it is a tad overpriced considering the lack of staying power. I think it is worth the money though for the lovely smell.
The perfume: This particular perfume was released in 1991 and it contains: silk tree flower, night queen flower, bourbon vanilla, sandalwood and tonka bean. You would expect this fragrance to be very sweet and almost sickly, but it's not. It's more musky and although it is feminine and you can smell the flowers, but it's soft and very sensual. When you first apply the scent, it appears very heavy, and seems to stay on the skin for a while, but after a while it softens and leaves a musky, vanilla smell behind. This only lasts for 4-5 hours though, and as I've already commented, you will find yourself re-applying it during the course of your day. Because of this, I wouldn't recommend it for going out. The smell isn't strong enough to last a night out in a pub or club for example.
I would describe this perfume as a light, everyday perfume that settles into a lovely scent of vanilla and musk. I think it is worth the money but I wouldn't buy it as a special occasion perfume. For everyday use, this would be perfect for that light, hint of fragrance that isn't overpowering.
