Christian Dior Rouge Dior Lipcolor No. 999 Celebrity Red

The Dior Rouge series of lipsticks is advertised as the equivalent of Haute Couture for your lips. They aim to combine two sought after features that often seem to be mutually exclusive with lipsticks. They are long lasting, without causing the usual dryness of some long lasting lipsticks. Instead they have a creamy texture when first applied, and they leave the lips soft throughout.

...with the Dior logo and the product name. The tube itself is also metallic navy blue on two opposite sides and black with a carved criss-cross pattern on the two other sides. A silver band bear the name Dior and the initials CD are on the top side.

The packaging is very luxurious for "just a lipstick". It comes in a silky/ metallic navy blue box with the Dior logo and the product name. The tube itself is also metallic navy blue on two opposite sides and black with a carved criss-cross pattern on the two other sides. I'm putting my review in this category as it is the shade that I really want. For intense red to look right, the texture, lasting power and other things, have to be right as well. My current one is called "438 7th Art Pink". I wouldn't buy this colour again, in fact it's hard to get it to look good with my skin tone. But that is my own fault. A while before buying it I received a makeup demonstration at the Dior counter in the House of Fraser. In that context a shimmery peach coloured lipstick was used. When I went back for it, it turned out to be a limited edition that had run out by then. This one was the most like it. I didn't bother testing it because of its similarity to the one I was after.

Despite that, it's been a useful trial run for the red one. This formula is perfect for making intense colours last. They may be quite an indulgence, but you get a lot of use and joy out of a quality product.
