Advantages: essential reading for women diagnosed or concerned about breast cancer Disadvantages: none at all
...This book tells the story of ChristineRayner’s fight against breast cancer; and how she overcame it with strength and determination, supported by her family; in particular her husband, Pete.
My reason for buying the book was simply that I only know a couple of published authors, one of them is a romantic novelist, and the other is Christine, who I must admit to not knowing well, despite the fact that she only lives a few doors away from me. Although we are roughly the same age, we have very few interests in common, so have been acquaintances rather than friends for the six years I have lived in this area.
The reader of this review may be asking what is the significance of the title. The Amazons were a legendary race of female warriors, who trained for farming, hunting and war. They cut off a breast in order to facilitate...

Advantages: A perfect child's christmas present Disadvantages: You'll want to read it too
...Santa's diary
I got this older child's book quite a few years ago, and it is quite enchanting. It is the perfect book to get out every Christmas and is short enough to read in an evening sitting by the fire. It is written by Shoo Rayner (sorry I meant Santa Clause). You get to find out what Santa does in the rest of the year and before Christmas. It is a paperback written in diary style with pictures to illustrate exactly what Santa gets up to. It really does put you in the Christmas spirit. Very cleverly written and a must for every child's Christmas stocking....

The Stone Rose Review ofDoctor Who: The Stone Rose - Jacqueline Raynerby
sallymorton
Advantages: An all-round great book. Disadvantages: Advanced vocabulary.
...Before you I say anything else about this book, please let me just say one thing- DO NOT JUDGE IT! Just because it is a Doctor Who book, doesn't mean in any way that it is only meant for children, or in that case only meant for adults. Give this book an equal cahnce and don't just throw it aside because it is from a childrens TV program.
Now I shall get on with the review.
The Stone Rose by Jacquline Rayner is a fabulous book that every Doctor Who fan should read. I'd definately reccomend it. With many twists and turns, and surprisingly accurate historical facts, such as names, locations and living styles, which gets mixed together with the legendary characters the Doctor and Rose to make a recipe for a GREAT book. Recomended age - 10+ - The adult langauge may make it hard for young readers to understand....
