"Grand Voyager, the people and luggage carrier"

We have owned a Grand Voyager 3.3litre LE from new, two years and 30k miles ago. It's been a great vehicle to carry six people in individual comfort, but so could claim a number of other MPV's. The difference is that the long wheelbase gives an extra couple of feet boot space compared with others in this class. We have four children, ranging from 11 to 16 years, and on their return to school on a Sunday evening, the piles of bags and boxes and pets has to be seen to be believed. Previous cars included the Mercedes 230 TE estate, Volvo 850 estate and a Mitsubishi Spacewagon, and this Sunday trip was becoming impossible. Holidays en famille were no fun, even with a roof box. The Voyager has proved to be a great success, and it can swallow up all the luggage for seven, as we have done in the last year.
The downside is that it is not just long, but wide, although with a clever electric switch to pull the mirrors in when you are tight for space. My wife had the side of the car wiped out last year, when a lorry hit the drivers side on a narrow country lane.
Performance is good, especially after a service, but the car does get sluggish as it approaches the 10k interval. Parts and service are expensive. The most recent with brake pads was over £900.
Fuel consumption is only just over 20mpg, but it's a big piece of kit with a 3.3litre engine.
We've also moved house recently, and with the rear bench seats taken out will swallow an amazing amount of stuff. Yesterday I had two fridges, two large wheelie bins, a 17" pc monitor and eight cases of drink plus boxes of brochures from an exhibition in the back, still with room for four passengers. Impressed?
Reliability has been good, but one seat back collapsed, the heater control has packed up, both fixed under warranty. Nice touches are about a dozen cup holders scattered around, a good sound system, separate air con front and back and those electric mirror retractors.

Not bad intro, but info on what the car has to offer would have resulted in a higher rating (eg comfort, ride, equipment, insurance costs etc.). If you ever redo this op, please let me know and I'll reread it and review my rating :)

Having 4 kids between us this would suit my fiance and I, but unfortunately current finances won't allow, so we can only dream at the moment. Good first op and welcome.

Nice op, I only get 28mpg out of my little RAV4, so 20+mpg from 3.3ltrs aint to bad.
