I bought this car new for my wife in December 2001 as our previous car was getting a bit long in the tooth ( Nissan Prairie , which was a great car and never let us down) , which is something that cannot be said for the Voyager. The car came with a 3 year warranty , thankfully ,as we had to use it quite a lot . It has to be mentioned that the dealer who supplied the car ( Bickets of Kilmarnock) were pretty good in that they would pick it up and drop off a courtesy car whenever any work was needing done , which meant we got to drive a P.T cruiser (twice), a Chrysler Neon automatic (once) , a petrol Voyager (twice) , an automatic diesel Voyager (once) and a Cherokee jeep (once), but then we did pay £ 25,000 for the car and expected good service. Lets start listing the faults: alternator faulty, replaced under warranty , electric mirrors faulty ,replaced under warranty, heated seats ,replaced under warranty ,electric mirrors again , replaced under warranty, hand brake kept jumping off ,replaced under warranty, heated seats again , replaced under warranty. Understandably , after the three years warranty was up we elected to pay for an extra years warranty costing £500 , so we felt secure when in 2004 we were driving up the motorway and the lights on the dashboard came on , the car then slowed down to 15-20 MPH , the car had went into " limp home mode". We called the tow truck which took the car to the nearest Chrysler dealer(not Bickets please note) who phoned us a few days later to say that we were not covered under warranty as the problem was due to fuel contamination and we would need new injectors at the cost of £3000! The dealer (not Bickets) said they had fitted 3 new injectors but the car was still conking out so we got an independent motor engineer to have a look and it turned out they had only fitted one (second hand )injector.Suddenly our car was fixed under warranty! The car now has a problem with a leaking master and slave cylinder for the clutch which means we now need a new clutch assembly at a cost of £1300 and guess what ? We did not renew the warranty! With the benefit of hindsight , I certainly would not have bought this car, but then we can all be wise after the event and surely all Voyagers can't be as bad as this one? Still looks good though! p.s my wife has just reminded me that she also got a Ford Galaxy ,Kia Sedona and a Seat Leon as courtesy cars .She used to be a bit nervous about driving different cars. Not any more!
