Stiched up like a kipper

Advantages: Cheepish
Disadvantages: Did not cover me for what I had asked for

I had a quote from chirchills mainly because I had car insurance with them & that had been very good value.
I went through my exsisting policy with the Tele Sales person & they came back and said they could do the same cover for £40 less, Great I thought and soon as my exsisting insurance ended I signed up. This has been running now for 2 years & recently I have had a accident at home & needed to claim.
To my surprise I was told I ...
...beleive it my old policy was & I had asked for it.
I told the claimes person the full story & he checked back and found my original quote and yes it was for accidental damage, but the new policy was only for standard cover.
I asked well don't you record your conversations for security perposes etc.

Really good customer service

Advantages: quick and efficient claims handling
Disadvantages: check all is covered

Due to unfortunate circumstances in the last 3 months I have had a car stolen and a break in to my house. Cheapest insurer for an under 25.

Advantages: Cheapest by far for an under 25 year old.
Disadvantages: Minor policy restrictions.

One year and one month ago I had my insurance revoked from Dial Direct after their system did not recognise the post-code for my new house I had just moved into. Obviously I started phoning all the 0800 numbers getting insurance quotes (since you must be insured by law!) - but alas, because most other insurance companies' systems could not find the new post-code I could not be insured through them either. From a limited number of insurance companies I took the quote from Churchill (which I had received via "insure direct"/Lloyds TSB). Their system had the ability to ignore the post-code since I could provide a postal address instead (hooray - common sense prevails..!). Thinking nothing more of it I had the insurance policy for one year and it was due for renewal a few weeks ago. I started phoning all the 0800 numbers again to find ...

Churchill Will You Pay My Claim ? Oh Yes

I've been purchasing my motor insurance from Churchill for a number of years now. My initial reason for contacting Churchill for an insurance quote was the catchy bulldog adverts, you know the ones, voiced by Vic Reeves - Oh no, no, no, no and Oh yes. However, once I'd contacted them I discovered there was more to this company than a catchy advert. I've always been impressed by their levels of customer service regarding setting up policies, change of car and change of address, not to mention their competitive rates. One aspect of their service I'd never tested however, was their claims service, until now that is. OHHHHH NOOOOO Churchill

Advantages: Cheap, UK based
Disadvantages: no 'one' named person deals with claim, too many call transfers to different departments

Having recently changed to Churchill (feb 2007)after being with Norwich Union for some years, i have been pretty dissapointed with the service I have had. I changed cars last year and having got a much smaller car, Churchill beat my NU renewal quote by a considerable margin, which was a good start. A month ago I was rear ended after stopping at a red traffic light, the guy behind didn't. Only minor damage, less than the excess, and the other driver admitted liability straight away. First Churchill questioned the fact that I wanted to use a Toyota dealer for the repair,even though the car is less than a year old and to use a non-Toyota garage may have invalidated the corrosion warranty etc. Then they insisted on an engineer inspecting the car, even though photo's were taken at the main dealer garage, and then they could not ...
