One year and one month ago I had my insurance revoked from Dial Direct after their system did not recognise the post-code for my new house I had just moved into. Obviously I started phoning all the 0800 numbers getting insurance quotes (since you must be insured by law!) - but alas, because most other insurance companies' systems could not find the new post-code I could not be insured through them either. From a limited number of insurance companies I took the quote from Churchill (which I had received via "insure direct"/Lloyds TSB). Their system had the ability to ignore the post-code since I could provide a postal address instead (hooray - common sense prevails..!).
Thinking nothing more of it I had the insurance policy for one year and it was due for renewal a few weeks ago. I started phoning all the 0800 numbers again to find a new provider thinking that due to my limitations last year, the competition would provide better premiums. How wrong was I..!
Churchill insurance have insured me - an under 25 year old (just!!) with six years NCD on a Ford Focus 1.8 LX - for 250 quid. I have a limitation on my policy which states that I cannot drive any other vehicle, and an additional excess of 150 quid, but the actual premium was a good 150 quid below all the nearest competitors..!
Their service and efficiency a year ago was outstanding - they had the common sense to allow my quote to be processed using just an address since the post-code was "invalid".
I cannot comment on their efficiency since (thank God) I have not had to claim on any vehicle. Reading the many other opinions on Churchill it seems that their efficiency in dealing with claims is excellent, but as I say I cannot comment. (( NOTE: I had to put in a value for efficiency ))
I would definately recommend Churchill to an under 25 (my twin brother and two of my mates have Churchill policies now) since their premuims are by far lower than all other competitors.

Great Opinion I gave Churchill a ring today to ensure on my mum's new car and you're right they are incredibly good value. Like you I hope never to be able to comment on their efficiency!

sounds good if you have 6 years NCB! I just lost 8yrs NCB:( had an accident and got rid of my car and am having an awful time getting quotes/premiums I can afford with a new car I am trying to get, possibly a 2.0L or a 1.8L all down to insurance as yous say. I used to be with CGNU as a) they offered me the cheapest quote out of 10 places I called for fully -comp. insurance b) they DO pay up in event of a claim BUT now theyve merged with Norwich Union and I've lost my NCB, as I lost my car! so I am starting over again with a new car and new insurance -thanks, very useful op. for us all to consider, bearing in mind the various factors involved in motor insurance! thank you.
