Churchill passionate about insurance, so their slogan says. Really I say how about passionate about being totally unhelpful!
We had a car accident 11th August this year on the way back from holiday in Devon. We`d travelled about half an hour and ended up as car 2 in a line of 4 who had a bump..well number 4 car drove into the back of us all.
I was taken from the scene in an ambulance leaving husband and kids with the mess to sort out. They were fine when initially told about the accident saying that we could try to get overnight accommodation etc. So car was taken from the scene under police instruction by a truck, which we noted the name of.
Arrived home a day later and rang Churchill. Told THEM the car had been taken by a truck. Ok they say they`d follow it up. We waited… and waited. So I rang. What news of the car…don`t know they would find out. Well the car had been moved to another garage and they didn`t know what state it was in they would try and phone them… while I was on hold… and its not a freephone number. Anyway the garage would ring me back. Which they did and told that as far as they were concerned the car was a write off.
So I rang Churchill, they had had no information from the engineers so couldn`t advise me. A few days later a man phoned asking me where the car was and was it drivable!!! WHAT!!! This was an engineer who hadn`t bothered to read his fax properly. Talk about right hand not knowing what the left was doing!!!
To cut a long story short, the car was inspected on 21st August and the Churchill engineers did not phone me until 28th August. When they did they wanted to "discuss" what I thought my car was worth. Bear in mind I`m off with whiplash, feeling rubbish and did not want to enter into a discussion with some patronising bloke about car value!!!
Finally a written offer came through the post with…yes you guessed the wrong figure on it!! Another phone call to Churchill who said they would get the engineers to phone me back.
We now have the correct offer, from which my £100 excess will be deducted along with the outstanding monthly premiums!!!
Their only redeeming feature is that because I have CLAS legal service with them I have been appointed a very good solicitor, who I have used before!!
Needless to say I WILL NOT insure any vehicle with them again!!!

Sorry to hear about this. I have been with Churchill for 8 years but of course I haven't had an accident or any problems. very good review though.

Hope you are better now. I think that all car insurance companys are as bad as each other. As long as you and your family are okay, that is the main think.Ps do you want to buy a new car??Take care Best Regards Baz
