Our house insurance is up for renewal. Our existing insurer Norwich Union Direct have priced themselves out of the frame by trebling our premiums in 2 years. We have a car policy with Churchill which seems the only reason they need to bombard us regularly with letters inviting us to insure our buildings and contents with them too.
So I called today Sunday as they claim to be open. Whilst the recorded message was telling me that they valued my custom (an 0800 number fortunately, so they were paying) and that I would be attended too soon, I surfed the web. (We have home highway).
After 93 minutes (the phone has a timer) I hung up and purchased a policy from Directline online.

Isn't it a little unfair to make a snap decision based on one unanswered phone call? Particularly as you eventually decided to go online and buy insurance through another company that runs both a phone and and online quote/policy purchase service.
