Where do I start, first off they were more than happy to take my money for the insurance, but when I came to renew my policy elsewhere, thats when the trouble really started. Initially after first insuring with them I had trouble getting documents from them, having to make four phone calls in two weeks to receive my insurance policy. Every person that I spoke to said "there must be a problem with your post because we have done everything right". I do not have problems with my post and have not since, I know deep down that the problems were with them but they would not admit to it. I finally got the documents only to find that that the insurance certificate (the main crucial bit) had not been included, so again another phone call to get this ( "a technical glitch" they called it). After this I was relcutant to reinsure with them again. The customer service was appalling but they had my money so perhaps they were not so keen to offer any decent form of service. I decided to go back to my old insurer, who for five years previously I have never had any problems with. They were £55.00 more, but the peace of mind knowing that everything was done correctly, I felt was worth it.
I advised Churchill, that I would not reinsuring with them at the end of the month and that all I wished to receive from them was proof of my no claims discount. I was asked all my reasons for leaving and I told them as it was, their customer service was left abjectly wanting. They advised me that I would receive the NC proof as soon as the insurance had neared it's exipry. Except I never got it. I spent Monday, Wednesday and Friday of one week on the phone to them and Tuesday and Thursday of the following week attempting to chase up this no claims proof. Each and everytime I was told it was in the post or that they would reissue me off another one, which never arrived.
In the meantime my new insurer was anxious to confirm my NCD, Churchill refused point blank to speak with them, even though I had given permission for Churchill to do so. The fact that my new insurer had my previous details and actually believed what I was saying gave me a 'temporary stay of execution'. In the end I spoke to some person in the complaints department. In point of fact he was no use either and had a offensive patronising attitude towards me. I gave them the ultimatum to get it sorted out once and for all and that I could get on with my life in peace and quiet free from Churchill.
Finally after three weeks and the fact that my insurance had ended the previous four weeks, my NCD arrived. I sent it Recorded Delivery to my new insurance company so worried that I may lose it.
If any of you are thinking of insuring with Churchill then I have some words for you, think about it carefully, just because they are cheap does not mean that you will get good service and expect to have problems, make lots of phone calls and get loads of agro with them.
THEY REALLY ARE NOT WORTH IT!
