~ ~ Well, not really. In fact, to be honest, the complete opposite, as I shower every morning, and sometimes again in the evening if I have had a hot, sticky day sat behind the wheel of my taxi in the totally crazy Dublin traffic. I simply can’t face the day until I’ve showered in the morning, and if for any reason I miss my ablutions, then I feel totally out of sorts for the rest of the day.
~ ~ But this obsession with always feeling clean also has its downside. While the mad cabbie might be spotless in every regard, the same couldn’t be said for his shower and bathroom, and in particular for the glass shower screen and wall tiles around the bath. (I have an overhead shower unit in the bath) Between all the sweat, muck, and grime that I wash off daily, and with the inevitable build up of limescale from the tap water, the bath, tiles, and shower screen often look like they’ve been used by a battalion of soldiers just back from a five day field exercise in the peat bogs of Ireland.
~ ~ I have a very understanding better half, who administers to the every need of her beloved husband with a smile. (well, most of the time!) But she draws the line at cleaning out the bathroom after me, as well as one or two other little things that we won’t go into here. (Don’t bother asking) So cleaning the shower area is down to me, and up until recently it’s a job that I absolutely hated. I don’t know about your shower, but no matter how much elbow grease and effort I seemed to put into the task, I could never seem to get the sparkling results that ‘herself’ demanded. I’d tried all sorts of cleaning materials, but no matter what, the stubborn stains and streaks seemed destined to be a permanent feature. That is, until I discovered this new stuff (well, new to me) called Cif Bath and Shower. In fact, I can’t even take credit for that, to be totally honest. ~ ~ “Cif” is the new name for an old favourite called “Jif”, and its manufactured by Lever Brothers, who have factories in England and here in my home city of Dublin. Here’s what the ‘blurb’ says on the trigger action bottle. “Cif bath and Shower, with its powerful trigger action, easily removes grime, soapscum, limescale, and watermarks. No rubbing required. Leaves your bath clean and smooth, and taps, tiles and showers reflecting a brilliant shine” My, my, tell me more. Right you are then. It’s easy to use. Simply spray it on, leave the chemicals to work their magic for a minute or so, and then rinse it off. If you have stubborn limescale they recommend that you repeat the application.
~ ~ So does it work? You bet your life it does, although not quite in the spray on and rinse off fashion that Lever Brothers claim. I was totally astounded at the difference the first time I used this product. Followed the instructions to the letter, and the difference was truly remarkable, although I had to apply a modicum of the old elbow grease to the glass shower screen in order to get the required results. Now that I’ve got rid of the old build up of stains and streaks, it seems to work even better. Once every couple of days, I spray it on, give it a swift once over with a cloth, and rinse it off. Voila. A bath and shower area that even herself admits is the cleanest she’s ever seen it. And she’s hard to please, believe me!
~ ~ For those of you who are interested here’s what they say it contains, although it’s all Double Dutch to this fella. Antonic Surfactants, Nontonic Surfactants and preservative, as well as ‘other ingredients’ that they don’t specify. It has a couple of fairly dire warnings on the bottle as well. Don’t get it near your eyes, don’t use it if you have damaged or sensitive skin without a pair of rubber gloves, and wash and rinse your hands thoroughly after use. (Common sense really) Also, don’t mix it with other chemical products. I think this has something to do with a possible chemical reaction that can produce ammonia gas!
~ ~ And the cost? £2.69 (Irish Punts) for a 500ml bottle. I’ve had it for over two weeks now, and the bottle is hardly used. Highly recommended by the mad cabbie

...of product altogether.
Enter Cif Bath & Shower, formerly known as 'Jif Bath & Shower', a product from Lever Brothers, the market leaders in all things household cleanliness.
You can get your Cif in two forms, a spray in a trigger-action plastic bottle, and a mousse in a can. I've tried both and find the spray to be both more effective and cheaper to use.
According to the spiel on the bottle, Cif B&S removes 'grime, soap scum, limescale and watermarks'. ... ...that my bath and raps will be left 'reflecting a brilliant shine'.
To use, spray liberally on the area you want to clean and then leave for a mo for the cleaning chemicals to do their business. Then just rinse off.
But is it that simple? Well, yes and no.
If your bath has no nasty scummy rings and your taps aren't gunged up or rusty around the bottom, then yes, simple rinsing is fine. In fact, you'll be amazed at the sparkle and cleanliness that ...

Advantages: A Pleasant Smell Disadvantages: Could leave a residue
...thought that I would give Cif a try. I have used a great many spray cleansers but I thought that I would give a good old-fashioned cream cleanser another try. My Mum gets through bottles of this product and swears by it! I had always known this in its previous life as Jif. Why they had to change the name, I don't know?! but, anyway, here goes!
Cif is an Active Cream Kitchen and Bathroom cleanser with bleach (met bleek), as it says on the bottle.
... ...They even have a Cif Careline to ring with any comments or problems. I do not think that many cleansers have that on their packaging!
So after this long list of what you CANT use the product on, you must be wondering, what CAN I use this product on!?
Kitchen and bathroom tiles, your bath, sink, and toilet, as long as they are not 'worn' enamel, cooker top, and any other kitchen appliances, as long as they are not on the above list of 'no, no's!'.

...again and well it was Cif the new daft name for the product. Oh well I wonder how much it is in here I thought, the bathroom is well past its clean by date. £1.49, flipping eck, I must really stop using this shop and get my backside into gear. I stood there for a moment thinking Tescos or Spar, jigger it, I'll go for this, too flipping cold to wander into town to Tescos as Spar is just around the corner but boy are those prices dear.
I get to the ... ...the Metallic Yellow can of Cif Bathroom Mousse and it has the brand name on the front and this is lemon fresh and has half cut lemons on the front of it it with bubbles on it. It also has got the fact that it helps prevent lime scale and anti calcair and kalk in it. It also has a rounded yellow pull of lid and a spray rather like your hair mousse spray. This is a large can and holds 500ml of pure fun.
I look on the back of the can and there are ...

...round my complaining thanks to Cif previously Jif.
I have used numerous bath cleaning products but none quite do the job like Cif Bath mousse. They come in two scents Lemon Fresh which I love or the one I am currently using Arctic Fresh. So what the product says it will do, help prevent limescale. This mousse can be used on plastic, enamel and chromed surfaces which pretty much covers most baths.
So the first thing I noticed about Cif was the packaging. ... ...very nice with the green cif logo and arctic fresh written with a watery wave surrounding the test. I think the can looks sophisticated with the metallic silver and turquoise, it's very eye catching.
So the instructions to the mousse are as follows. You first must give it a shake so that it comes out like a spray instead of big clumps of mousse. You then spray it a little away from the bath walls to get an even coating of mouse around the whole ...

Advantages: cleans well Disadvantages: more expensive than own brand cleaners
went back to the sink and washed the Cif off. Rubbing a little where the stains were. I polished my taps with the Cif on my cloth. I then turned round and wiped clean the food preparation surface. Looking critically at this area I was happy that it was clean and hygienic,
I also use this cleaner to clean my dirty pans it cleans through the grease and will with a bit of effort and maybe repeat cleaning get rid of stubborn grime.
I then went into the smallest room under the stairs cleaned the hand basin with it then wiped round the toilet with it too.
Next upstairs to the bathroom. I cleaned the bath no scum on my bath now. Cif is non abrasive so it is good for cleaning not scratching. I cleaned the wash basin and the shower unit. I cleaned the tiles around the bath. The bathroom now had a faint lemon smell.
On my way between kitchen ...
Advantages: Lovely clean smell Disadvantages: Leaves a powder residue
I have used hundreds of different products in my research of trying to cut housework down to a bare minimum, every new product that comes on the market promising quicker better results, I guarentee that I will be amongst the first to try it.
In all honesty, nothing beats Cif when it comes to cleaning my bath and anything thats glossed white in my house.
BATHROOM
I tend to squirt, quite librally, Cif all over the bath, then put the plug in run a small ammount of hot water, clean all aroung the bath and taps, and the leave the diluted Cif to work its magic for about 5 mins, go back and rinse it all off using the shower.
It does take quite alot of rinsing to get rid of the powdery residue left behind, but the results are well worth it.
Once it is all rinsed off I then get a bit of kitchen towel and buff up the taps and shower ...
