Ok so what have you got Dr Squidget? ... Read review
Advantages: Cleans with ease and they were cheap on offer Disadvantages: No good for the windows in the car
...I have got those new CIF Glass & Window wipes.
Are they any good?
Well sit back and read on and I will reveal all.
Shopping ~
Ever since I saw the advertisement for the wipes on TV almost 1 month ago I have frantically searched up and down the aisles of my local Tesco’s only to find that they were always sold out, so first good point is they proved popular.
In my never-ending ... ...a bash for the shopping (my excuse was just for a change! Deep down I wanted the wipes).
To my delight they had bundles and bundles of the wipes and not only that they were on special offer, how could I cope? Packs were reduced from £1.59 to just 99p a bargain, but how was I to know even that was a bargain I had never tried them? Still I picked four packets just in case.

Ever since I saw the advertisement for the wipes on TV almost 1 month ago I have frantically searched up and down the aisles of my local Tesco’s only to find that they were always sold out, so first good point is they proved popular.
In my never-ending search for this product I thought we would give Safeway a bash for the shopping (my excuse was just for a change!
Back home ~
Messages were unpacked and my nose was bothering me, so I decided to have a little clean up in the kitchen that turned into full-scale spring clean and it was not long until I got round to the wipes.
The Wipes ~
The wipes come in durable plastic pouch and contain 20 XL wipes and they are quite large about 6 x 20 inches. They have a beautiful fresh lemon fragrance, which lingers and fills the room, nice!
Each wipe is slightly moist and they feel very soft to touch. Now they feel only slightly moist and to me I thought that wouldn’t clean much it will dry up rather quickly so I put it to what I thought was the ultimate test in my house.
In my bedroom I have a huge double fitted wardrobe with mirrored doors these were the perfect candidates. Now imagine to young men one of them very vain (and no that’s not me1) who like themselves to look presentable and also to criticise them selves with the usual ‘you look awful today’ or ‘you are starting to look your age’. If only you knew half the carries on we have to get ready, they say women are bad phew! Come to the Squidget household you will know what bad is.
Anyway sorry back to the mirrors to young men and what do you get? Well this might make you queasy it is a bit yucky, if we have a spot we tend to use this mirror for popping them, it has the best light and you can see it from all angles. So the end result is a spot splat all over the glass.
The Test ~
So the wipes were put to the test, one wipe in hand I started to clean the mirrors and was surprised at how easy it was. The wipes glided over the glass like an ice skate on ice taking with it most of the dirt and grime.
Oh no only most of it? Not all of it?
No not all, but don’t worry the stubborn stains and grime were easy to remove with just a little elbow grease and not a lot of effort.
One wipe was enough to do one door and maybe just a little of the other but I just started on a new wipe for the new door. The wipes are easy to hold and move well over the glass and remain fresh smelling even when they are done and look like an old rag.
So was that the testing done, no way you know me better than that. I tried the wipes on every window mirror and glass item in the house the results were and the results were varied good on somethings and poor on others.
What did you test?
Okay I tested the wipes on the following and will have the results immediately after:
Windows ~
Seemed a fairly obvious choice don’t you think? The results were great every window in the house was clean, especially the kitchen and the bedroom, as my little parrot Jasper sits on these windows a lot and he makes a bit of a mess on the glass when he is eating. The dried debris removed with a little effort but no real problems and soon the sparkle was back to the windows. Now when he is banished back to the cage for sleep the windows get a quick wipe and all is back to normal. Perfect result.
Mirrors ~
They work a treat as explained above but even on the small mirrors of which there are a few, one wipe does them all. I can see what I really look like that is the only snag!
Glassware ~
I have a few glass vases that are extremely difficult to handle for cleaning so I thought I would give it a bash with the wipes, you guessed they were still difficult to handle for cleaning but the overall result was fairly impressive instead of the usual soak in water and leaving to drip dry.
Bathroom ~
Oh this was the amazing part of the test, which was stumbled upon by accident or just my stupidity but not so stupid after all. On the packaging there is a picture of a glass coffee table, but me without my glasses on I thought it was a toilet, strange I thought but none the less great advertising duh!
I tried it on the pedestal and the cistern of the loo and they were sparkling like new pins, not bad for a few wipes.
Car ~
Now I thought this would be a good idea and was one of the main reasons we decided to try them out, however, this was the only thing I was not entirely happy with the results. This was not apparent immediately but only once I was driving in the dark and could see the streaks that had been left!
This may have been due to the fact that the car windows had not been cleaned since August when we purchased her but they needed another clean after this and still at night you could see the streaks!
Not an ideal solution for the car try something else.
Overall Result ~
Well in total I used 9 wipes just under half a packet and from that I managed to clean all the windows in the house of, which there is 6 in various sizes, 4 small and 2 large, this took 4 wipes.
The 3 vases took 1 wipe but proved a difficult task due to the intricacy of the vases themselves so let the wipes of with that.
The bathroom took 1 wipe for the pedestal and the cistern and the various small mirrors throughout the house took one wipe for all. The double wardrobe mirrors took one wipe for each mirror.
So there you have it for just under 50p (half a packet!) I managed to clean all the glass in the house with ease.
Advantages: do the job, should last well Disadvantages: rather expensive initially
...had heard a lot about Cif Glass and Window Wipes, after seeing the advertising on TV and reading such opinions as the excellent one by Squidget on the product. But I didn’t think I would be reviewing them myself, as it’s not something I tend to bother much about – the state of my windows. I mean, I’m a reluctant housewife at the best of times. But I do like freebies and surfing the Internet one day, I filled in a form to receive ... ...design. You take out the Cif wipes individually through the slot in the top, so the others in the packet stay fresh and ready for use.
They are to be used for cleaning windows, glass and plastic surfaces in general, computer screens, TV screens, glass tables, car windscreens, mirrors and so on. They are NOT to be used on polished or untreated wood surfaces, or plasma screens. The pack claims they remove ‘dirt, grime and fingerprints quickly ...

Advantages: You feel virtuous because you've cleaned the windows. Disadvantages: Your windows aren't clean.
...bought a packet of these Cif wipes. Well, one of the things that I hate about cleaning is all the paraphernalia that you need to do what should be a relatively simple job. I’d reached the stage where cleaning the windows meant a bucket of soapy water and cloth to wash the window (have you ever noticed how the water runs down your arm and drips off your elbow?) a squeegee to remove all the water from the window and a dry cloth to polish the window. ... ...bores me and I will jump at any lame excuse not to do the windows, or any other housework come to that.
So, there I was walking round Tesco and I saw this packet of wipes. You open the packet, remove the wipe which is “soaked in a unique and fast-evaporating solution containing alcohol”. It sounded like a bottle of wine, so it had my attention. This miracle of modern science and marketing then cleans the windows, the mirrors and other glass and ...

...out household chores – with CIF wipes I found my hands smelt lovely all lemony and fresh and didn’t irritate my skin in the least. After washing my hands I found that the smell was gone, but they felt lovely and soft!!
I really do think that the wipes are value for money, although am not entirely sure how much they cost, as I haven’t yet seen them on the shelves – but I will find out for you. All you really need to know is ... ...they will save you time, YES they will save on elbow grease and long term YES they will save you money – especially if you go for the freebie offer! I cant say I am into cleaning my windows, preferring much more fun things in life, but I will go so far as to say that window cleaning will certainly be on my agenda much more often than before! Something I am sure will please the window cleaner!! ...

Advantages: Quick and convenient. Disadvantages: Don't tell you what they contain on the pack...don't clean for you! (Except that they are wipes, of course!).
...pack of 40 extra large Cif Glass and window wipes. For one thing they were "free" ( a certain way to get my attention) and they said for "QUICK, EASY, SPARKLING RESULTS" on the packet....Ok, so they'd caught my interest...could they keep it? According to the packet the wipes are soaked in a solution containing alchohol which should remove "dirt, grime and fingerprints"; ideal for a house like mine! The ingredients don't give much information saying ... ...I would recommend Cif Wipes, particularly for cleaning mirrors, computer screens and other glass and plastic surfaces. Just remember to follow the pack instructions and don't use them on plasma televisions or lap-top screens. Don't forget to shop around for the bargains and don't expect them to perform miracles.....they are only wipes after all! They are a handy little product to have in your cleaning cupboard. I'm sure that if you look in the cupboard ...

Advantages: Clean windows in a flash, or should that be a Cif! Disadvantages: none
...popped a pack of 40 Cif glass and window wipes. So my task for the morning was quickly decided..... I was to clean all the windows and glass surfaces in the house to see how well they worked, and of course, my number one priority to be able to advise fellow Ciaoers whether they were worth buying.
11.00am - I opened the pack, the first thing that hit me was the really refreshing lemony smell. Unlike some other glass cleaners I have smelt before the ... ...clouds on which reminded me of spring cleaning and looking through sparkling clean windows. Also immediately by looking at the packet I could see what sort of surfaces I could use the wipes on ie windows, mirrors, glass tables and TV screens.
The good thing about the packaging also was that you could break the seal and open by peeling off the sticker halfway and there was no danger of the wipes drying out. I thought on the whole the packaging was ...
