....... my name is Merv and I am folically challenged.
There I’ve said it. I’m out of the closet. Wasn’t too bad was it? I’ve owned up. Someone would have let the cat out of the bag sooner or later, so I decided to come clean.
Baldness - the last vestige of political incorrectness. The politicians are successfully tackling inequality with regard to race, disability, gender and sexual orientation. Even people who eat too much have rights, but still us ‘slapheads’ are there to bear the brunt of every amateur comedian’s sense of humour.
I went to a football match yesterday and the linesman had the crowd on his back for 90 minutes, not because he was slow in spotting the occasional offside, but because he was bald. The usual songs, chants and comments, but to be fair to him he was totally unphased by it all – probably used to it.
No wonder poor old Elton’s taken to wearing what looks like a dead animal on his head.
I started to go bald in my twenties, first at the front and then on top – I still have plenty of hair on the back of my head, which, before you ask, I have never combed forward 'a la' Sir Bobby Charlton. I’ve grown bald gracefully, accepting the fact and telling myself it could be worse – at least I have my own teeth! Nevertheless I wouldn’t say no to a full and luxuriant head of hair, so when I spotted this shampoo in the Supermarket I decided to give it a try.
I bought it originally when it was on a ‘two for the price of one offer’ at Tesco. It is normally about £3.99 for 200ml or £5.95 for 300ml, which is quite expensive compared to the shampoo that I, and probably most men, would usually buy.
It is far thicker and more gooey than most shampoos and conditioners but after using it regularly for the last six months I believe it does make a difference. No – I don’t suddenly have hair like my son which I can spike up with gel like Gareth Gates but it does make my remaining hair look thicker and more voluminous and definitely easier to hold in place. I used to wear my hair quite short because any length would look untidy as my hair was quite thin and would blow all over the place and in all directions, but nowadays I find my visits to the hairdresser are a little less often and even she has commented how much fuller my hair looks.
It smells nice enough, its not over-scented and quite subdued, a hint of apricots or peaches. On the downside it contains twenty five chemicals – I didn’t notice any natural products – some of which, such as tetrasodium sound quite dangerous. Still I suppose most shampoos are mainly chemically based.
There seems to be free samples available all over the internet but for some reason only to men, I don’t know whether or not that means its harmful to the fairer sex or just some marketing ploy.
I went back to Tesco and stocked up on it while it was on special offer because I was so impressed. Its not going to grow hair where there is none, but I do believe that it adds volume to thinning hair which is a big plus in my view.
In addition to Circ shampoo the range also includes a spray-on fullness conditioner, to help retain fullness, a scalp moisturiser to reduce dryness; a hair fullness booster, to lift hair at the roots and promote fullness; a styling and cooling gel, for use on damp or dry hair; a hair refresher wash, to remove the residue of other products which can weigh the hair down; and a hair strengthener which helps reduce breakage. I haven’t tried any of these yet but I might well do if I see them on special offer.
If I do I’ll let you know and if in the meantime I sprout hair like Bon Jovi I’ll post a picture on my profile page.
Advantages: Nice smell, works as well as can be expected Disadvantages: Bound to be expensive
...after finding the freebie for Circ hair thickening shampoo, I went for it. And low and behold, it was a good treat.
The smell of the shampoo was very nice indeed, a pleasant peachy effect, so good I'd buy it for the smell rather than the hair thickening effect. The consistency of the liquid was the same as most shampoos, though I found you didn't necessarily need as much as you do with others (though it may be because I have less to wash :) When ... ...of thick Beatle hair. The flesh coloured gap at the top of my scalp was a little smaller, and the hair itself a little thicker. A little. After repeated use, I found that this increased a little more. I was still thinning, but it put... weeks on me :)
I'd definitely buy it again, as a shampoo with a thickening side effect rather than the other way round. I'd be interested to see the price of the full bottle, and if it isn't ridiculously expensive, ...

Advantages: Does give thickness Disadvantages: Grease and can;'t run hand through hair
Okay, my dipit mum bought this shampoo for me on Friday and I didn't quite know that it's for men until I read the opinions on Ciao!
I saw when using it, that it was to help add volume and weight to hair, i.e for bald middle-aged "trendy" men who like the shiny modern sea coloured blue of the bottle. But, despite the fact that I'm a 15 year old girl who, I can assure you, has ALL her hair, ran out of her Timotei range and was forced to use it.
... ...extremely thick white goop onto my paws and spread it through my hair. The stuff is really thick, for approximately shoulder length hair you need a good palm-full. I massaged it in well and followed the typical "Shampoo, lather and rinse" instructions.
However, when I emerged from my shower I was completely surprised by the disgusting tangled, roughness of my hair. I couldn't even pull my hand through my hair. Certainly thickened but also tangled. ...

Advantages: A quality product which does improve the condition of your hair Disadvantages: Not cheap if you use all products in the range
...The product range is called CIRC and has been designed for men who are worried about thinning hair. Gentlemen, it is a sad fact of life that as the years pass and the waistline thickens, so the hair thins. This is called androgenic alopecia, or male pattern baldness, and is very common. (Except, apparently, in eunuchs…but you might prefer to hear more about this new product…?…I thought so.)
It is the male hormone testosterone that ... ...you’ve got left.
The CIRC range of hair care products contains polymer supplements, similar to those found in other hair care products (although the supplements in CIRC are under patent.) The range comprises CIRC shampoo which claims to add thickness and control, CIRC spray-on fullness conditioner, to help retain fullness, scalp moisturiser to reduce dryness, CIRC hair fullness booster, to lift hair at the roots and promote fullness, CIRC ...

Advantages: Helps to thicken thinning hair! Disadvantages: A little expensive.
...men with thinning hair.
Circ is a shampoo that helps to allow men to stay in control a little longer. How do I know? Well, my younger brother, Gareth, is loosing his hair. To make it wore, he has fair/ ginger hair so what he has, looks thin!
Circ shampoo is great in cleaning the hair and scalp, but is a lot more. Well, that is if the advertising is to believed! It contains a polymer supplement. (Polymer supplements are hair-thickening agents designed ... ...am not personally using it. Circ has cosmetic benefits and will not encourage re-growth hair or prevent thinning, but will enhance the hair. **How to Use**
1) Wet hair.
2) Apply around 5mls onto the hair and lather well.
3) Rinse off and repeat the process.
It should be noted that on first wash use Circ Shampoo on its own but for subsequent washes, conditioner or other styling products maybe applied.
The shampoo is white, thick yet has a light ...

Circ Shampoo
A shampoo aimed at a particular market , namely the balding self conscious male , yip it’s a ‘Hair Loss Thickening Shampoo’ . Although the web site ( see later ) says women can use it too . Apparently , 'it contains polymer supplements that load the hair'. Whatever these are -?
So one with a mop on top , how did I come across this ? Well while surfing the WWW , a banner popped up shouting Free Sample ( it did not mention it’s market ... ...benefit of circ shampoo you may need to adjust your conditioner and styling product range ’ . This says two things to me , either :
1) Normal products interfere with this product as would a pin to a blown up balloon.
or 2) The manufacturers ( Proctor and Gamble ) , are trying to promote other products in this range .
Recommendations :
Well , firstly they recommend using circ on its own . So I do , for two washes . My hair feels a little rough ...

the amount later to suit your hair's needs. This product can be used on damp or dry hair and does not need to be rinsed off.
Circs spray on fullness conditioner is suitable for use with any shampoo and any hair type. This product can also help with getting rid of knots and tatters from the hair (although a propper detangler would be more suitable for really tatty hair). I also find that this product reduces the frizz that people can get sometimes.
Appart from the smell, ease of use etc above all I find that this product actually deep conditions my hair leaving it with a more softer and silky feeling and looking more shiny and not so dry as it sometimes did before I used this product.
I payed £0.79p for a 125ml bottle of circ's spray on fullness conditioner from savers wich I think is a really good price to pay for a product as good as ...
Advantages: Thickens Hair - Just like it says! Disadvantages: Expensive
the loss of my once thick mane, and this is my preferred brand. This is also my preferred shampoo.
The range has a choice of three - Thickening, Scrub & Run (which also conditions) or Detox (for removal of pollutants such as wax, gel, etc.).
The Thickening Shampoo is my shampoo of choice. My hair is normal/greasy, and one wash leaves my hair feeling and looking thicker and very soft to touch (even when I've used gel/wax in my hair).
You don't need to use a lot as it produces a creamy, rich lather, so you get the most out of the money you pay for it. I use it everyday, and find that is suitable for everyday use, causing no irritation to my scalp. The shampoo smells good and the results are preferrable to other shampoo's that I have tried such as Johnson's Baby Shampoo (doesn't add volume), Pantene (for girls!) and Circ (just not as good ...
