Advantages: I like Mr Crepsley's attitude towards everything. Disadvantages: I think the main character, Darren, comes across as a little too naive than you would expect.
I love this book, and all in this Saga. I think it was well worth the read, and would deffinatly read it again, and reccomend it to a friend. The story is brilliant, a great starter to the rest of the Saga, and the main characters feelings and actions are brilliantly writen by Shan. This saga is my favourite I have read, with this first book being one of my favourites out of all 12 books in the series. My favorite charactor is Mr Crepsley, a mysterious man that Darren meets at the CirqueDuFreak. I like his attitude, and he grows evermore brilliant throughout the Saga, as we learn more about him. Darren also becomes a much better charactor throughout the seires, as he becomes more mature and expecienced. ...
Advantages: very gripping storyline, appeals to all ages Disadvantages: seriously impossible to put down once you start reading it

Advantages: Start of a 12 Book Series Disadvantages: Childrens series
The first in the 12 book series (also available in 4 trilogy books) it follows the story of a boy called DarrenShan and the outcome of a visit to a mysterious freak show called The CirqueDuFreak where he and his friend are awed by a weird looking man called Mr Crepsley (who turns out to be a vampire) and his pet spider, a huge Tarantula which he seems to be able to control. The series is aimed at children aged up to about 14 and the first three books are in preouction to become a feature film (rights bought by Universal Studios). This first book ends and delves straight into the second book so it is advised to buy at least the first three together to avoid disappointment! Read It! ...

It's still not too late to change your mind about reading this information. Stop looking now. Please. Dear Customer, Like the previous CDs in A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS, there is nothing to be found in this narration but misery, despair and discomfort. This time, Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire encounter a darkened staircase, a red herring, some friends in a dire situation, three mysterious initials, a liar with an evil scheme, a secret passageway and parsley soda. I have sworn to record these tales of the Baudelaire orphans so the general public will know each terrible thing that has happened to them, but if you decide to listen to something else instead you will save yourself from a heapful of horror and woe. With all due respect, Lemony Snicket
