The course is based around computer networking and is split up into semesters that are split up into chapters. After you have read the extensive readings on each chapter, and taking the quiz you are able to take the chapter test. The pass rate ... ...There are 16 tests in the first semester, and by then you have been through all the stages in developing a network, cabling envolved and gone through the layers of the OSI model.
Along with the extensive reading there is also a practical side in which you can make your own cables, and work on cut outs of a computer so you have a detailed physical knowledge as well as the theory of the subject.

The course is based around computer networking and is split up into semesters that are split up into chapters. After you have read the extensive readings on each chapter, and taking the quiz you are able to take the chapter test. The pass rate for each test is 70%, but tests can be retaken! There are 16 tests in the first semester, and by then you have been through all the stages in developing a network, cabling envolved and gone through the layers of the OSI model.

At the end of each semester certificates are attained. At the end of the whole course you gain a qualification that is accepted by almost all walks of life from University to employment by computer companies. There may also be training vacansies available at Cisco, so this qualification could lead straight into a job! This course can be a 1 year or a 2 year course, and if you feel capable this is a course worth taking! It can also be done online, so a student can set exams and take them at home or a more convenient location. This makes the course extremely flexible.

As I said the exam changed recently, it used to be 65 questions and was quite straight ... ...related section on a Cisco router/switch whereby the screen represents an actual screen display from a switch and asks you to type commands etc instead of multiple choice type answers. The exam is now 45 questions which are slightly harder and make sure that the candidate has knowledge in the technology instead of being able to read a book and pass or by using a braindump site...making the exam harder for the less experienced...Which is a good thing ...

Advantages: A good career move if you like networking. Disadvantages: Very difficult to do Systems as well as this.
A little background info first: Cisco sell Routers and Switches among other things. For those that don’t know, Switches are for connecting network devices together and routers are for connecting Networks together. In a very high end representation. CCNA is the first of three qualifications you to becoming CCNIe (Which is the top certificate and there are a very few people in the UK that have them).
After looking into how I could get into network ... ...traffic goes over Cisco products (not to mention the salary you could get for having become Cisco qualified). I was however told that the courses are very difficult and the exams are even more so. This disheartened me and left me wandering if it was worth making the effort.
