Dell was founded by Michael Dell in 1984 and was originally named 'PC limited'. At that time IBM was the main specialists in computer products and components worldwide. Michael learn't his trade by using IBM mainframe computers on processing speeds of only 2MHz. A 'MHz' is a tiny fraction of the kind of processor speeds that are in the market today. Dell's visionary could see beyond the systems he worked with and wanted to find away to quicken up data processing and so got to work on building a prototype. In 1985 he managed it with a staggering 8 MHz processor speed. Michael was on his way to being a success in the US and has gone from strength to strength. Revenue 2006>> 56 Billion.

The massive success of digital cameras has driven demand for bigger and better portable storage formats and CompactFlash is just one of a number of portable, removable digital storage media available. While it is undoubtedly compact, it is certainly not the smallest format available, XD, SD and SmartMedia are all physically smaller devices. It's at this point that it's worth mentioning that there are two types of CompactFlash named, imaginatively, Type I and Type II. The only real difference is in their thickness, with Type I cards measuring 3.3mm thick and type II cards measuring 4mm. What this means is that a Type I card will work in a Type II compatible deice, but not the other way round, simply because a Type II card will not physically fit in a Type I slot.

This is a good quality product that offers good value for money in the very short term. Although as with most products of this type, the value will deteriorate over time and should be able to get a cheaper version next year. It's a great device with plenty of features that I would highly recommend. This really is a wonderful piece of kit that should go well with many accessories because it really looks good. After using this product for a few months I have not so far come up against any reliability issues but only time will tell. I therefore would recommend the product. However, always think carefully as to whether you actually really need something before you buy it. We buy so many things nowadays that we don't really need.
