Advantages: New faster wi-fi standard. Easy to set-up
Disadvantages: None specific to Linksys, but wi-fi HAS to less secure than a wired LAN

...off my hands for 30 quid, so at £50 it’s a cheap upgrade. LINKSYS WIRELESS-G BROADBAND ROUTER (WRT54G) As you’ll see, they’ve streamlined the name of these things in the last year or so! This is a typical Linksys job to look at, being of a common corporate stackable design about the size that modems used to be, with a couple of ‘1st generation’ rubber cell-phone antennae sticking out of the back. This one doesn’t quite have the full array of pretty lights that its predecessor had, but this has enabled then to make it a lower profile than my old one. Its power comes from the usual outboard mains adapter, enabling the Cisco, the parent company to supply more or less the same equipment worldwide. Advantages: Can connect computers together in home or office without wires all over the pace
Disadvantages: Might interfere with some cordless phones

...We recently decide to buy a Belkin ASDL Modem with Wireless G Router because we have two computers at home. My other half found it easy to install and get working on our main computer which is upstairs. Downstairs is our family computer and we though it would help the family,(kids not allowed in mum and dads bedroom), to access the internet for school work, research and e mail access. Everything worked fine, even the remote dongle worked really well and gets a really good signal. The best thing about this wireless LAN is that you can use the main computer to allow certain settings on the remote computer and turn internet access on or off, transfer files from main computer to remote computer and view what the remote user is accessing so you can net nanny any of your kids while they surf without actually looking over...
