Citibank visa used to be know as the associates visa card. As I had not been registered on the electoral roll for a few years I had had trouble obtaining a credit card in the past. However I contacted the associates and sent them proof of where I had been living and they allowed me a credit card with a low credit limit (£300).
However this came at a cost a £18 annual charge and a higher than normal interest rate (sorry cannot tell you exact %’s). As long as you kept the account in good order they would increase your limit approximately every 6 months. If you made a late payment, were over your limit or a direct debit was refused then you would incur charges of £25.
Cash withdrawls were also costly at £5.00 a time. The interest rate on cash withdrawls was also higher than for purchases.
If you have had trouble in getting a credit card in the past then this is a good option for you. I would advise you to keep your account in order then apply for another card after a year or so with a more competitive rate. In a world were having a credit card is becoming a necessity companies giving people a card when other companies refuse are a godsend.

I also have one of these cards. They increase the limit regularly but the only down side is the interest rate. Thank God for companies like this who treat you like a human being .. it doesn't take much for the big boys to turn you down and that causes all sorts of problems. Joey.

Thanks for this info. If your credit isn't A1 it can ruin your record when applications are refused so this is valuable information for many people
Advantages: free £500 overdraft, able to draw money from all ATMs without charge, free internet banking Disadvantages: no high street presence apart from London
