10 days ago I bought myself a SONY DCR-SR90E.
The internet and the seemingly knowledgeable salesman convinced me that it would be perfect for filming concerts, with good light sensitivity and wonderful sound.
Alas. It is all that, but it is a bit ahead of it's time. First thing I noticed after downloading the films is that WIndows Media Player, Quicktime and most others don't like surround-sound, the playback of the original roughs has massive interference. So I'd wanted to resort back to normal stereo, which the pc can handle. The camera does do stereo instead of the 5.1 surroundsound when the setting is on Easy Handycam. This is the setting for novices where you can't go wrong 'cause you can change nearly nothing. As anyone who has read my beer reviews will know by now I am a big fan of supporting my local breweries. I live in Derbyshire and until recent times local breweries were a bit thin on the ground. In the past couple of years there has been a positive boom in the amount of brewers who have set up around where I live. These include Thornbridge Hall, Spire and, the subject of this review, Peak Ales. Not being one to stem their creative flow I have made it my selfless task to taste as many local beers as I can. This is how I came to be sitting in the Arkwright Arms one Thursday evening doing a beer tasting of Peak Ales Swift Nick!
