Okay, I have to admit, I’m not a driver but as soon as I am this’ll be my car! My mum got one when I was about seven and I’ve been smitten ever since!
Although they rattle and leak when it’s wet, rattle, are unpowerful, did I mention that rattle? They’re such an endearing little car with so much character.
A whole new world is opened up to you with a car like this. There are rallies, a great place to meet fellow drivers (and passengers) and admire a whole gallery of cars, each individualised by a caring (and often fairly bonkers) owner. Also there’s the wave. Whenever you see another 2CV on the road it’s a custom to wave which I quite miss when driving around in our Vauxhall astra (so any 2CV drivers in the Brighton area, if a young girl in a blue Vauxhall waves at you you know and please wave back!)
Although they’re hardly up to date inside in comparison with many of today’s more modern cars they fulfil tasks beautifully simply. The roof simply rolls back for hot weather, or half way if you like. The front windows have hinges and little clips to keep them open so no messing about with winding (but watch your fingers, and shut up those with electric windows!) And the heater simply blows in the outside air which is passed over the engine to heat it up first ( I think that’s how it works anyway) Although this means at first on a cold frosty morning you have cold air blown into the car once you get going it really does work to keep you snug.
You’ll never lose it! After a hard day at work, shopping, etc. etc. what better than to have your car gleaming at you amongst all the others in that giant carpark. However I once got into trouble a bit with this whilst on a park and ride bus when I was rather uncomplimentary about the car parked beside our beauty and after it being quite obvious which car was ours and which I was referring to the people beside us got up and drove it away (eek).
So if you want something a bit different, something more than a car but more a way of life. Something to go with those cute shoes you have, then look no further than a 2CV, it’s a car with character and a personality all of it’s own.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Not bad intro, but info on what the car has to offer would have resulted in a higher rating (eg comfort, ride, equipment, insurance costs etc.). If you ever redo this op, please let me know and I'll reread it and review my rating :)

Trust me, if a young girl in a blue Vauxhall (or any car for that matter!) was waving at me I'd be too busy checking my pulse to wave back! Not that I have a 2CV you understand, but you get the picture! Very nice review, and thanks for adding me to your c.o.t. Dave.
Advantages: It's different, it puts a smile on your face; resale value, economical Disadvantages: Parts can be expensive & hard to find, white interior will get dirty quick
