Bubble car with attitude
Advantages: Low emissions, excellent fuel consumption, features and gadgets Disadvantages: Bouncy ride and relatively noisy ride
MY REASON:
I bought my Citroen C3 for £4900 after a very long research. I had a look at various other cars on the market and decided to buy this C3 ONLY based on economical and envirmental reasons. SAVING ON FUEL:
I live 50 miles away from work and that means that on average I spend around £280 per month on fuel. Driving a car that consumes less diesel (55MPG) my fuel bill drops to around £180 per month. I save £100 per month!!
SAVING ON ROAD ... ...car to my local Citroen dealer and they told me with fitment, it would cost me £490! I was shocked because I thought that this work can not be more than £150. I phoned another citroen dealer to get the part only price. They quoted £400 pound for the alternator only! Sad and disappointed I done a search online and found a good website - electricalcarspares.co.uk - who charged me £100 pound for the alternator including postage. I bought it and with ...

Poor Service and big reliability problems
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Where do I start
...ran out it's as if Citroen pushed a magic button which told the car to destroy all the expensive bits in the enginge and electrics. First the middle of a pouring rain storm the windscreen wipers decide that they've had enought and dont want to work at all. I took into my local dealer where I bought it from (Wilmoths Battle) and they explained that it was probably the fuse board. The replaced that at a cost of £30 and handed me back the car. Days ... ...a trailer back upto my citroen dealership. They then explain that they cant do anything about the problem as 'they're too booked up', Probably with more problem cars. They then tell me that that no courtesy cars are available so I would have to rent a car at a generous discount from Citroen (all of £10) This worked out at £20 a day and to this day I've payed over £150-00 for this rent a car. They then ring me saying that the teeth on the gearbox ...

C3 or not C3? Definitely not a C3!!
Advantages: Spacious, economical fuel consumption, looks good Disadvantages: High repair and maintenance bills, unreliable, doesn't look so good on the back of a tow truck!
After owning my little Citroen C3 for just over 6 years, the time has come to accept that this relationship has run its course and move on to better things. So I have finally part-exchanged my C3 and, hopefully, bid farewell to endless visits to the garage and constant repair bills! Like most relationships, this started so well. It was love at first sight when I set eyes on the C3, which was a relatively new model when I bought mine back in November ... ...were looked at by a Citroen garage a few months' back and they run a diagnostic check on the car (for which I had to pay another bill for) only for it to come back clear and the mechanic just said 'it could be anything or nothing.' He claimed to have cleaned some pipe or other which he felt should resolve the problem but within the space of a fortnight the same warning lights were flashing up left, right and centre again! Their only real recommendation ...

My advice? - Pick a different car!
Advantages: Fun with roof down Disadvantages: Unreliable
...had paid to them. Their service was excellent from start to finish. My advice is to go for a different car altogether, or the Citroen C1. That's a great little car. I should know, it was my courtesy car enough times while the pluriel was in the garage!!! ...

Classic Citroen cracker
Advantages: cost, spec level, economy, fun to drive Disadvantages: some flimsy interior fittings
C3 is surely the inheritor of the 2CV - small car with an arched roofline suggesting classic Citroen's visual appeal. It's light in weight and our 1.6 HDI with manual gearbox returns an average 70+mpg. It will cruise on the motorway all day at the legal limit and return 65mpg. We're tall, and the headroom and legroom in the front are excellent.
The handling is really good as long as you remember you're in a diesel and keep the revs up. It can be ... ...bit over potholes, but the steering and brakes are excellent.
Servicing is reasonably priced, the build quality seems pretty good. Some interior fittings need handling with care because they're flimsy. But the car is nippy, quiet, reliable and cheap to tax, insure and run. Overall this is one of our favourite cars and great value for money. ...
