Ciroen C4 VTR+
Advantages: Toys Disadvantages: Ride
...is the next let down. Citroen have managed to remove the normal suspension and replace it with a large bowl of jelly. Amazingly, they have also got the wibbly wobbly rolling wonder to detect EVERY bump in the road - even the one's you miss! It's an amazing combo of twitchy and soft ride. The brakes were designed by a man without any comprehension of physics. Even when bedded in, they dig the front of the car hard into the road, lifting the back to ... ...is just pathetic. Why did Citroen not use the 1.616v out of the Saxo VTS? This is a heavy car with 4 adults and luggage, we will have been tipping 1550kg's and I had to spend time hunting up and down the box for the power - 5th couldn't pull a fat minger at ten to two in the nightclub, even with the offer of a free kebab first. There is no footrest either - a capital crime in my opinion!
Economy on the C4 was rather poor - i did 29.3 mpg with a ...

Clutchless Gearbox on a Diesel - Rare Combination
Advantages: Looks good, plenty of extras, well built, spacious interior, no clutch Disadvantages: Automatic gearchanges could be better timed
...automatic Audi A3 and the Citroen C4 1.6HDi 16V VTR+ Coupe EGS. I chose the Citroen C4 based on the fact that it is better value for money (unsurprisingly) and looks better (I also already have a Citroen Picasso)
Design
I chose the 3 door version, as it looks much better than the 5 door version (which looks like a Ford Focus), a bit sporty even, and meets my requirements. I chose the "Iron Grey" colour, which I think compliments the car's salmon-esque ... ...am very pleased with the Citroen C4 1.6HDi 16V VTR+ Coupe EGS and can anticipate years of happy motoring in it. The EGS is definitely welcome for those long journeys and slow as you don't have to worry about "clutcher's leg". Around town it also gives you more time to think about the road rather than changing gears. What I also like is the freedom to choose between automatic mode, and if you want more control, manual mode. ...

Excrement Off A Teflon Digging Tool: 12 Months On
Advantages: Advanced electronics, and high levels of appointment. Very economical diesel but still fast Disadvantages: Advanced electronics!
...was ushered into it that Citroen gave in and fixed it FOC. It also helped that the salesman in question had left (under a cloud, I shouldn't wonder?). The 'Service' light came on as I drove away for the first time - this was put down to water in the 'lane-change warning' sensors* and was fixed FOC.
*They vibrate your left or right buttock if you stray over a white line whilst not signalling!
A few days later, I noticed that the Climate Control ... ...warming up - the air-con contingent having given up. This was put down to the fact that the car hadn't been used for 5 months when I took it on, and you're supposed to use air-con frequently to stop the refrigerant escaping through dried-out seals. The air-con was recharged with gas FOC and had worked ever since.
It does indeed get through front tyres faster due to the extra weight of the engine. At 20,000, i.e. 7,000 miles after buying it, I needed ...

Citroen C4 Transformer
Advantages: Good styling and plenty of gadgets Disadvantages: Citroen reputation
...Believe it or not the Citroen C4, specifically the coupe VTS 2.0HDi diesel delivered on all of the above. Citroën has never given buyers in this class a car as good as the C4. The old Xsara - and before that ZX - failed to hit the spot with bland looks and little innovation. But the C4 is different. It looks good and is packed with useful technology - such as a multifunction steering wheel, laminated side glass and a built-in air freshener - which ... ...good to drive, well equipped and ups the standard for Citroën interior quality.
Word of warning: My car comes with rear parking sensors and I would suggest these as a must. The raked sports styling means visibility is limited through the tiny rear window - the car is longer than it seems and parallel parking can be tricky!
This car perhaps does not offer the same polished drive or 'badge of honour' credibility as its rivals such as the Audi A3 ...

Citroen C1 - A joy to own with car tax of just £35 per year!
Advantages: Cheap car to run and a nippy little run around car for short journeys. Disadvantages: Slow up hills and impossible to overtake anything faster than a tractor!
...one advantage of owning a Citroen C1. They are easy to park being so small and warm up nice and quick in the winter! It is certainly cheap enough to run. The only thing I would say about this car is that is you have been used to driving a car with a bigger engine you do get a little frustrated with the 1 litre engine. It is nippy around town and on short runs, but hills and overtaking can be a little tricky. Also fuel consumption on the motorways ... ...looking. It is ok, except for all the shiny plastic chrome looking bits and pieces that I have to keep sticking back on with super glue! In my own opinion I find the Citroen C1 to be an all round good little car that is cheap to run. ...
