The Berlingo - it's a van but we love it!

Advantages: Lots of luggage space, very flexible, cheap to buy and run
Disadvantages: Hard jostly ride at time, rattles develop with age revealing its van roots!

We bought our Berlingo as a family car but as my wife runs a small business from home we also needed our car to double as a van. The Berlingo has the largest loading space of any comparable domestic vehicle and is great value for money. The diesel engine is powerful enough to still have acceleration even when fully laden but remains the most economical in the range. The Berlingo boot space is immense and eats luggage - no more worries about what ...
...the seats folded down the Berlingo reveals its van roots and the sliding rear side doors are great for loading and unloading (also no need to worry about your kids winging the door open into other cars in a car par - a nice bonus!). On the downside the Berlingo ride is hard at best and expect some rattles as it starts to get on in years but we've been fairly unforgiving with ours and it keeps on going and starting first time every morning. All in ...

Citroen Berlingo !! :)

Advantages: great storage
Disadvantages: cant climb hills very well

The citroen berlingo 1.8 has lots of storage such as side compartments in both sides of the front of the car, attached to the door. Also at both sides in the back and the boot. There are netted compartments in the back at both sides up the top. And attached to the back of front seats. There is a good sized gloves compartment and two under the ground in the back, they have lids that blend in with the floor. The seats are well padded and very comfy, ...
...two front seats move back and forward to suit you, they also lean right back. The back seat fold forward in the push of a button and even there base folds forwards for extre space. The boot has lots of space and could easily fit a big dog or your weekly shopping, and still have extra room. There is an amazing amount of leg room in the back seats and the roof is high enough for an average ten year old to stand up easily. The leg room at the front ...

"Is the Pope in town?!"

...ordered a brochure for the Citroen Picasso. Accompanying this were the particulars for the Berlingo. I was immediately struck by the versatility of the car (more about this later) and also, I must confess, I loved the fact it looked a bit like a van! My husband hated it and put the details in the bin! Clearly underestimating the resourcefulness of us females, he forgot all about the Berlingo for many months. Many months later ..... we bought a ...
...the time, Citroen had a deal on whereby you didn't have to pay the VAT on all new purchases. Sound familiar? Yes, I know, they have this deal on fairly frequently, but I was duped into believing that it wasn't going to be repeated for quite some time! The result? I rushed into buying my car (the 1.4i forte in 'sahara gold'). It's not all bad though, I love the colour and I've since seen the 'wicked red' which was my first choice and not liked it ...

Overall, a great car

Advantages: Economical (fuel, lower road tax, cheaper insurance), good warranty, comfortable, spacious
Disadvantages: Dashboard heater vents not very directionable, sliding rear doors could cause scratching

...RELIABILITY. We've owned a Citroen in the past and found it very reliable, so we didn't hesitate to consider buying another. The car has a 3-year full manufacturers warranty and 12-year anti-corrosion warranty, which gives us a lot of peace of mind, as our previous car (a Landrover Discovery) was showing signs of rust after only 7 years. On the minus side, we've had one or two 'teething' problems, but nothing major - the fuel indicator doesn't reach ...
...because we had to shout! Citroen offer air-conditioning and electric sunroof as options, but I can’t comment on these, as we don’t have them on our car. HANDLING. I think the Berlingo handles like a dream; it accelerates really well for a diesel and the power steering makes it a joy to drive. My husband says the Hdi has wider wheels, which give better handling (I wouldn’t have known about that!). The only trouble is that, because it’s so quiet, ...

Economical... what more can I say!

Advantages: economical
Disadvantages: design

Let's face it, this site is all about honesty and potentially helping others with their desicion making and purchases... so I am going give MY honest opinion, even though others will not agree! I bought this car for its practicality... 2 children (5 and 10 years) and a golden retriever dog, plus 2 adults. Once everyone is in, there is still space available, although I must admit the boot appears larger than it is (the dog is big I admit!) dur to ...
...and well thought out. In the front and back there are storage areas which are always more than useful. It drives relatively well although I am disappointed with the steering lock. I have a newish model with exatrs such as automatic windscreen wipers etc. some people may like these options, however I never use them! I hate the position of the window controls in the front - I find it completely unpractical to have to reach to the dash board to put ...
