Citroen C2

REASON FOR BUYING THIS CAR

For many a long year we as a family have had one car (At the minute a Toyota Avensis Verso – See review). This was proving to be somewhat of a burden to myself as I did all the driving with the children and my wife. My wife works in a town 7 miles from our home and I work in a town 6 miles in the opposite direction to my wife. In the morning I took my wife into work, as the public ...
...was made to buy a Citroen C2.

THE CAR

The C2 1.1 LX petrol version was bought in black, which I paid £7100 for. The LX version was chosen as the base model (L) did not have a CD player and had wind up windows, for an extra £300 my wife wanted the LX model which has a CD player, electric windows, remote locking and different alloy wheels. The controls for the electric windows are on the middle part of the steering ... more

...it for him and the Citroen C2 1.1 ticked most of the boxes on my very extensive list, and as a bonus the showroom had a shiny 'nail varnish' blue car sitting in their shop window . The exterior of this car is visually very attractive with a neat body and chrome headlights that twinkle even when they are switched off. (Have you realised yet that I am no car boffin?) One of the most important things on my tick list, I must admit with some shame, above ...
...not an 'expensive' car, but Citroen have not skimped at all. I am not going to pretend that this is a sports car, its accelleration is good (not brilliant), the price you pay for having a small engine. The fuel consumption is very good, anything from 45 - 65 miles per gallon (city driving) and the safety features are acceptable, air bags and ABS. But then it surprises you further and you discover that there is this little light that tells you if ...

Small Car, Big Ideas

Advantages: Very easy to park in small spaces
Disadvantages: Not gutsy enough for more than two people in the car

I first saw this car about a year ago in the dealers forecourt and thought "wow, that looks really neat". About a month later, the car I was driving was falling to bits (literally), so I decided to take the C2 for a test drive. The one I took for a test drive was the VTR with the automatic gearbox which I couldn't get the hang of due to the fact that I had been driving manuals for 18 years!! I decided to purchase the 1.1LX model as the dealers had ...
...(I was in a rush due to the impending failure of my old car). I have no regrets whatsoever in my rash decision to buy this model. The car itself is very small, the boot is about 2ft deep, but the rear seats do move forward a bit to allow more room. Also, the rear seats fold down and can be lifted up behind the front seats to give even more room. The car is only a four seater and you can independently fold down each rear seat. Inside, the upholstery ...

Avoid this car; unless you are broke!

Advantages: Cheap and relatively easy handling
Disadvantages: Unreliable, electrical problems and made of cheap parts!

...have had relative success with Citroen cars in the past; the Citroen Xsara Picasso is an excellent car. However, this car really is not anywhere near that standard. People say to me that as it is a relatively cheap car; then I should expect that it is not going to drive as well as it should. I think this is completely wrong as however much you spend on a new car; it should work! There are a couple of good points to this car, mainly the price. I ...
...car. In making this car, Citroen appear to have just used the cheapest materials they could find and just shoved them into this car. There are also some very strange problems with the car, which are also unexplainable. The car often fails to lock and also, the boot often fails to open. These factors are also unexplainable. Despite these negatives of this car, it is still fairly cheap. It is probably a good car to buy if you are a student and don't ...

...without the cars code that citroen only have. If they change the stereo the whole electrics of the car stop working. Obviously a good security feature but on asking citroen to fit my new stereo into the car (I would have paid their fitting cost no problem) I was told I was only able to have a Citroen dischanger only fitted into the C2. Very disappointed at the misleading information, and my advice is although the 1.1lx is slightly more in initial ...
...of the extras you will end up paying for. The car itself is wonderful. I have driven it on a few 300mile journies since sept o4 when I bought it, fuel consumption is good, and speed is not a problem on motorways. The car seems to perform fine at motorway speeds and doesn't feel sluggish unless the tank is nearly empty. One single problem with the car itself, are the bars supporting the windscreen. These cause a slight blindspot as the positioning ...

Chuffed to bits with my wee C2

Advantages: Small car, cheep to run, cheap to insure, has good looks.
Disadvantages: Not ideal as a family car.

I've had my c2 for over a month now, and I can honestly say I am very impressed with it. My partner has a Frontera which is handy when we go out as a family, but I wanted a wee car as a run around for shuttling the kids about etc. Although its not huge in the back it is adaquate for two people, the back seats do actually slide back independently, making more leg room. The boot is again quite surprising how much you can squeeze in, and if youve ...
...you can fold the seats down quickly and easily. Parking this car is excellent with the power steering it fits into quite tight spaces no probs. Handling is also exellent. I bought my car 200mls away from where I live and it drove up the motorway like a dream, we sat at a steady 90mph, smooth and comfy. There is loads of room in the front making it feel like a big car, all the controls are clear and easily accessable, there are loads of wee nooks ...

Citroen C2 VTS

Advantages: fast, stylish and very nippy in and out of town
Disadvantages: does not hold it's value

Previously experiencing the likes of a Citroen C2 1.4 Furio, the Citroen C2 1.6 VTS was definately a step up from the last. Although each car has it's pros and cons, the VTS seems to top the two. The car is fast (about 120 mph top speed) and stylish, coming with full Citroen C2 body kit. This car comes with a six-speed gearbox giving 126bhp for you to mess with. With relativeley cheap insurance group (group 8), the young drivers will certainly be considering the VTS as an option. Coming in at about £12000 on the road, the VTS is not cheap but Citroen's cashback offers can see this car on the road for a bout £10000. The C2 VTS is the top of the range model and should be considered for those of you who are after one of the best superminis around. ...

Review of Citroen C2 1.6i 16v

Not worth the money

Advantages: styling, suitable for the city
Disadvantages: reliability and security problems, instability, small luggage space, cheap build quality

It's uncomfortably loud on the motor way. I used to drive one at work. However, after complains of cheap quality, my firm bought Citroen C2s. I've heard that the C1 may start burning or even explode if hit in the back. The C1 is prone to rollovers due to problems with stability. A thing I hate about the C1 is the cheap doors - a part of each door is upholstered, the upper parts of the doors however are uncovered with upholstery which looks very cheap. The trunk is too small by all standards. The 1.1 engine is too underpowered. The backseats are not comfortable for people 6' or more. By the way a new C1 costs as a 5-8 years old BMW or Mercedes from a larger class. For a little more one can buy a Citroen C2, which is the 2-door verion of the C3. ...

Review of Citroen C1

A great supermini!

Advantages: styling, handling, larger boot than C1, looks sporty, handles well
Disadvantages: only 3 doors available (the C2 is the 3-door version of C3)

Unlike Citroen C1, the C2 is a victim of poor (or none, in fact) advertising. It's the most neglected model. The C1 and C3 are aclaimed, but would they be so popular if they were not promoted tenaciously? I don't think so. The C2 is basically a C3 with 3 instead of 5 doors and a different design. So if you do not need 5 doors, than it's a suitable choice. The C1, in comparison is cheaper than the C2, but its interior is cheaper, too. The C1 is underpowered, while the 1.4 HDi C2 is more powerfull, yet very fuel-efficient engine. It definitely looks sporty. Fuel consumption for the 1.4 diesel is very good. The boot is larger than that of C1, so it's more practical. The C2 handles well, in addition it is a safe car - it achieved 4 stars out of 5 on Euro NCAP, unlike its predecessor Saxo, which achieved only 2! The seats are quite ...
