So here I am a week later looking out my window at the new VTS, the asthetics have grown on me since I bought it and Im even getting used to the size and three doors! My last car being a Renault Laguna Estate I thought I would struggle getting my partner and daughter around with the usual buggy, bags etc...The split tail gate and 2 adult sports seats in the rear which fold independantly and have ISO child seat fixings help. Im realy suprised at how well this car copes as a family run around.
After paying £2K per anum insurance on my Laguna, the VTS is a breath of fresh air, saving me over £140 per month! It still has all the extra's my laguna had - Air con, electric windows, remote central locking - check out www.citreon.co.uk for a list and virtual tour! As a family man its good to see the 4.5 * N-Cap crash rating which stands the VTS as safest in its class.
Anyway most of you interested in this car dont care about the above, you want to know how it drives - right? Well its a VTS so its pretty mental the 1.6i 16v engine pumps out 125BHP and revs effortlessly to 7000rpm, coupled with the close ratio gear box the VTS will do 0-60 in 8 seconds. The ride is very firm and sporty, the 16" alloys hold Michelin sport tyres and amazingly the VTS comes with ESP traction control which keeps it glued to the road. The steering is a little vague and over assisted around town but it is speed sensative so it gives plenty of feedback once moving.
However having a close ratio box gear means at speed your revs are gulping petrol even at 60 mph, Ive seen a max of 27mpg averaged this week and a low of 9mpg!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im onto my second refill in 200 miles!
The interior is modern and smart with an aluminium gear knob and pedals, there are some cheap plastics but its all well put together and feels solid. The display looks great with a digi speedo and long curved rev counter. With 2 glove boxes and door pockets the c2 will never get to cluttered. The 4 sports seats are all comfortable and adjust as usual, the drivers seat will adjust up and down and the steering wheel adjusts up/down and in/out so a good driving position is always achievable.
My local dealer (TCC) proved to be helpfull enough without being pushy, they made every effort to get the deal I wanted and gave me more than the market value for my Laguna, so all good there.
The competition for the VTS are all blown away because of its low insurance group / free insurance. With metalic paint, supa guard and mats I paid £13K OTD, which the competition just cant contend with, for the value for money aspest alone I would recomend this car to anyone. Competition - Clio Sport, Civic type R, Peugot 206 GTI
Overall - Great to drive, suprisingly practical family car, beats the competition, good looks, free insurance, great standard spec, good dealers - EXCELLENT CAR
Advantages: fast, stylish and very nippy in and out of town Disadvantages: does not hold it's value
...experiencing the likes of a Citroen C2 1.4 Furio, the Citroen C2 1.6 VTS was definately a step up from the last. Although each car has it's pros and cons, the VTS seems to top the two. The car is fast (about 120 mph top speed) and stylish, coming with full Citroen C2 body kit. This car comes with a six-speed gearbox giving 126bhp for you to mess with. With relativeley cheap insurance group (group 8), the young drivers will certainly be considering ... ...on the road, the VTS is not cheap but Citroen's cashback offers can see this car on the road for a bout £10000. The C2 VTS is the top of the range model and should be considered for those of you who are after one of the best superminis around. ...

central locking, an alarm, four airbags, electric windows, cruise control and a cd player as standard. There is the option of air con but that costs about £500.
It has a 1.6 litre engine which citroen states produces 110bhp.
So, once inside the car, the seats are very good. They are very supportive and not to firm. The dashboard is very grey though. Not a very interesting or exciting dash layout at all and the plastics are not the best quality. I found that although you can move the steering wheel I could not quite find the right position for it although given more time I may have gotten used to it. The car is fine for two people in the front but would only be suited for small children in the back as the seats do not look very big and are set out as two seats rather than a bench for three.
So, after starting the car up ...
