Advantages: Economical, stylish, nippy car with soul! Disadvantages: Not the biggest boot in the world.
...as I frequently travel around. Citroen actually do factory fit Navigation as and optional extra. Also there are steering wheel radio controls. If you choose to keep the original radio there is a display at the top of the dash in the centre that gives you radio details along with the temperature.
A feature I found exceptionally useful is that when travelling around it will give you an approximation of how many miles you have left before ... ...when you have 50 miles left.
So what about safety? There are passenger and driver airbags, side imapct protection system and automatic hazard light activation on impact or sudden slowing down. Not to mention ABS, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Emergency Braking Assistance (EBA).
This doesn't do it justice so far so listen to the added extras it also has - electric, automatic door locking, remote central locking, ... more
I have always been a proud Ford owner so I never thought I would find myself buying a french car. This particular one was first suggested to me by a friend so I decided to go and book a test drive - boy was I surprised.
At first impressions it looks very small and pokey from the outside, and then you open the door...... There are aluminium pedals, aluminium gear know, aluminium style trim with just the right balance of the aluminium against the normal interior. The front area is very spacious with sporty seats and plenty of room for the taller and bigger people out there. I didnt feel even slightly cramped or crowded. The back nicely fits two-three reasonably sized adults.
The dash is nicely laid out, everything is easy to find and comes as standard with a radio CD player. I removed this and went for an aftermarket all-in-one double din radio, dvd, cd and navigation unit as I frequently travel around. Citroen actually do factory fit Navigation as and optional extra. Also there are steering wheel radio controls. If you choose to keep the original radio there is a display at the top of the dash in the centre that gives you radio details along with the temperature.
A feature I found exceptionally useful is that when travelling around it will give you an approximation of how many miles you have left before you need fuel, with an audible beep to advise you when you have 50 miles left.
So what about safety? There are passenger and driver airbags, side imapct protection system and automatic hazard light activation on impact or sudden slowing down. Not to mention ABS, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Emergency Braking Assistance (EBA).
This doesn't do it justice so far so listen to the added extras it also has - electric, automatic door locking, remote central locking, alarm/immobiliser and adjustable steering wheel. Wait there's more - power steering, front and rear heated windscreen and lockable glovebox. So now you're thinking yes but doesn't all of this come as standard on most new cars now?
How about lights that come on automatically when it gets dark and windscreen wipers that spring into action when it rains. What about digital air conditioning with pollen filter and tinted windows. There is also the optional convenience pack which I went for consisting of heated, foldaway door mirrors and rear parking sensor.
Now for the engine and body :-) It packs a 1.6i 16v fuel injected monster with 125bhp, 5 speed manual gearbox, 41 litre fuel tank, 126mph top speed with 0-60 in 8.3 seconds. It boasts an upgraded suspension, 16" alloy wheels, all round disc brakes, colour coded bumpers and side skirts and a rear spoiler.
I've had this car for 6 months now and all in all I am still impressed with it now and it never fails to put a smile on my face with it's handy little extras. It's smart, sexy and modern all at the same time. I've found it very economical doing 40mpg on combined urban and long distance driving. It's comfortable and has everything I would expect of a car. If you have the extra money for the luxuries in life then this is the model for you at about £10000 OTR now.
Advantages: fast, stylish and very nippy in and out of town Disadvantages: does not hold it's value
Previously experiencing the likes of a CitroenC2 1.4 Furio, the CitroenC2 1.6 VTS was definately a step up from the last. Although each car has it's pros and cons, the VTS seems to top the two. The car is fast (about 120 mph top speed) and stylish, coming with full CitroenC2 body kit. This car comes with a six-speed gearbox giving 126bhp for you to mess with. With relativeley cheap insurance group (group 8), the young drivers will certainly be considering the VTS as an option. Coming in at about £12000 on the road, the VTS is not cheap but Citroen's cashback offers can see this car on the road for a bout £10000. The C2VTS is the top of the range model and should be considered for those of you who are after one of the best superminis around. ...
Advantages: Great performance, reliabilty looks, 2nd hand price Disadvantages: gonna hit you on insurance if under 20, thirsty little bugger!
I bought a x reg saxo vts almost 3 years ago now and the car is still as entertaining to drive as when i 1st bought it. O-60 time is 7.7 secs with a top speed of about 129mph, wouldnt waste my time with 8v vtr, when the second hand price is only a couple of hundread pounds difference between the vtr and vts. I have found the reliabiltiy of car good and the servicing costs reasonable taking into consideration the performance of the vts. For the the price of about £12.500 when new what a bargain when the car will easliy out accelerate cars double the price. A cracking little car. Citroen please bring an even quicker 1 out to challenge v6 clio as the performance of the c2vts was a disapointment to say the least. ...
Advantages: Good styling and plenty of gadgets Disadvantages: Citroen reputation
When looking for a car recently I wanted everything and thought I would have to compromise. To my surprise I didn't and I am now the proud owner of this car. Leaving facts and figures aside it's a great looking car, affordable, sporty and packs a turbo diesel punch!
It had to be less than £10,000
No more than 3 or 4 years old
No more than 20,000 miles on the clock
Low fuel consumption
Low tax bracket £150 a year max
Sporty looks and decent performance
Good resale value
Plenty of gadgets (I am a bloke after all)
Good ride and handling
Believe it or not the CitroenC4, specifically the coupe VTS2.0HDi diesel delivered on all of the above. Citroën has never given buyers in this class a car as good as the C4. The old Xsara - and before that ZX - failed to hit the spot with bland looks and little innovation. But the C4 is ...
