Disadvantages Disadvantages not enough boot space, no hanging handles within the car

Need For A New Car Having given up my Audi A3 last January to try and save some money between jobs my wife and I proceeded to share a car for a little over a year. My recent appointment to a role in London and the fact we moved further than a 20 minute walk from Jen’s work meant we finally needed to invest in a second car. Having considered public transport as an option and dismissed it due to the cost and timings I then turned my attention to finding an economical vehicle. Our shared car had been a Peugeot 206, which in fuel alone was costing me in excess of £55 a week. My requirements in a ... more

Advantages Advantages Comfortable, roomy small hatch with good equipment levels.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can have niggling faults. Main dealer repair costs - find a non-franchised specialist.

My first job in the motor trade was in 1978, selling new Citroens. In those days, Citroen were unique for two main reasons - one being their revolutionary self levelling suspension, (still a feature on the C5) and the other being that no Citroen of that era had self cancelling indicators. I sold that as a benefit to anyone who thought it a bit odd, and today I am now selling it as a benefit to my wife whose C3 has decided to take on this very retro feauture. A new indicator stalk (comms unit) costs around £300+ inc fitting. We are living with it and will not be investing! So how do we rate our ... more

Advantages Advantages cost, spec level, economy, fun to drive

Disadvantages Disadvantages some flimsy interior fittings

C3 is surely the inheritor of the 2CV - small car with an arched roofline suggesting classic Citroen's visual appeal. It's light in weight and our 1.6 HDI with manual gearbox returns an average 70+mpg. It will cruise on the motorway all day at the legal limit and return 65mpg. We're tall, and the headroom and legroom in the front are excellent. The handling is really good as long as you remember you're in a diesel and keep the revs up. It can be skittish on rough surfaces; the back wheels jump sideways a bit over potholes, but the steering and brakes are excellent. Servicing is reasonably ... more

Advantages Advantages Price, economical, interior height

Disadvantages Disadvantages Drivers seat too high for short legs

Bought this as a 2nd car for household. Never been tempted to buy new before and the other car is now 13yrs old. I wanted a car that was small but had 5 doors, AC, very economical to drive and preferably a diesel. Other than that I was open to any make or model. I had never considered a Citroen as my mum had a BX many years ago which she hated, however I saw the MPG and decided to take it for a test. There were no demos in the exclusive, so we took out the 1.4 diesel desire, we had it for 24hrs (I'd recommend this to anyone serious about buying). It was nippy and easy to drive, although it ... more
