So my mums says she needs a new car, as she has recently suffered a back problem and was having trouble with her current car as the doors are very heavy. So she pops up to my house to show off her new motor, well I instantly fell in love with it. Its a stunning little car and I could easily see myself driving it.
So I convince my husband to come down to the dealers to have a look, he isnt so sure as we have only had our current car for just over a year. Anyway we go down to see the dealer to see what he can do, a couple of hours and a fantastic deal later we have a convertable.
Now the car looks great but does it drive great....the answer is YES.
It comes with the usual new car features, such as airbags this model has 4 of them, power steering, abs. It won 4 stars from Euroncap for safety and is one of europes safest superminis. (Taken from the citroen site) It also comes as standard with a cd player...always handy. The radio can be controlled by a button on the windscreen wiper stick, good as you dont have to take your hands of the wheel to change the volume or station. The wing mirrors are electric on a button too. I find the steering to be very light, I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, I can only compare it to the one other car I have ever driven which was the hyundai getz. The car comes in 2 engine sizes a 1.4 which we have and a 1.6 which my mum drives, the good thing about the 1.6 is you can change it from a manual to an automatic at the flick of a switch, handy for my mum and dad, she drives it as an automatic and my dad drives it as a manual. Also the 1.6 comes with alloy wheels as standard.
It also has easy to read diplays, the speedometer is digital so you can see exactly what speed your doing also when you start the engine it shows you how much oil you have and also how many miles until your next service, this is set of course, plus it beeps at you when your petrol is low and tells you how many miles you have left, this is not accurate at all, because it takes the average of the last so many miles, so if you have been cruising on the motorway your bound to be showing more miles left that if you were in traffic....we were advised never to go by this indicator by the sales guy.
Now the standard colour is red, however it does come in 08 other colours that you have to pay extra for, we did and opted for silver. The interior is a light grey colour and a slightly darker grey on the 1.6
Now the best bit about this car is you can change it to suit your mood. The roof retracts to various different positions so you can have it as a little sunroof or fully retracted back or you can even take the whole roof off and stow it in the boot, both the front and rear windows are electric and the partition between both windows disappears to. You can even remove the side panels that hold the roof in place although I'm told you would have to leave these at home as they do not fit into the car (This is something we have not tried yet as the car is very open without removing the panels)
Another feature is that the back seat splits into 2 so if you have something that wont fit into the boot you do not have to sacrifice the entire back seat, just one side will flatten down leaving 1 seat for a passenger. This is very handy as the boot space is not very large, it does fit enough for a family of 3's shopping for a week though, however it does not fit my graco travel system (baby pram) I of course had not considered this when I decided I wanted to car, my over-riding thought was my daughter will not be in her pram for ever....or thats what I keep telling myself.
The other minor drawback is when you have the roof back and are travelling at a faster speed it is quite noisy, this is not a problem for us as at the moment we don't have the roof fully back as we usually have our daughter in the car and it takes her breath away....poor little tot, so we don't tend to have the roof down often. Only when we don't have her with us.
Petrol well Im not very good at how many miles to the gallon etc....but it does eat petrol quicker than our last car which was a 1.1 hyundai getz, but this doesnt surprise me as the engine is bigger, also I dont think it holds much petrol either.
Well I've tried to include everything, I hope I haven't missed something you may need to know. I love my car its a head turner!!!!!
Advantages: Fun, nippy and economical Disadvantages: Cumbersome convertible mode
...review is actually for the Citroen C3 Pluriel version which is the open-topped version.
It's my wife's car but I drive it frequently so thought I would share my thoughts on it.
Firstly, the positives. This car is a huge amount of fun and it looks stunning. It comes in range of two-tone colours and we chose a lime green pearlescent and silver combo, which sounds loud, but looks absolutely striing. The interior styling is smart with splashes of silver ... ...(a bit like the old Citroen 2CV) or you can remove the side bars, stow thses with the roof and back window section in the boot and configure it as a full convertible.
Also, the boot opens down so in 'convertible mode' and with the back seats down you can also use it as a mini pick-up truck.
In all modes, it looks fabulous as well as being practical.
To drive, the handling is tight and good and with power steering it is easy to park, it's small ...

Advantages: Great looking fun ride with something a little bit different. Disadvantages: Prone to leaky roofs, not the fastest cabriolet around.
I have had my C3 pluriel for 2 years and absolutely love it. It's great fun to drive (I have the senso drive version which allows you to switch between automatic and triptonic), it's pretty unusual and is great to look at.
I don't understand how this car has not caught on quicker. It has all the pros of a normal car but many of the great benefots of a convertible. One of the great things about driving the C3 pluriel is that they are quite uncommon ... ...as though your not driving the same as everyone esle. In fact it's quite a novelty to see another and there is even a pluriel owners club you can join.
The car has all the mod cons and a number of bonuses such as side impact bars and air bags. However... it's not all sunshine and roses. Pluriels do not become a convertible at the flick of a switch. In fact they can be quite time consuming and fiddly to convert. The fact that you must take the side ...

Advantages: Good fun, open top car which is suprisingly versatile Disadvantages: Not for the driving enthusiast. Roof bars have to be left behind
This is certainly a divisive car - some people laugh at it whilst others love it.
Essentially if you are looking for a great driving experience you'll be disappointed, but if you want something a little different or aren't bothered about handling and top speeds then the Pluriel is worth a look.
Price
The Pluriel at list price seems expensive for what it is, but Citroen often discount their cars heavily and it is probably the cheapest way to buy a new open top car.
Driving
The 1.4 engine is slightly underpowered and the car is certainly not quick. Its also a little less nippy than you'd expect for a small car, so you have to get used to really putting your foot down to pull out into a gap. The handling is average - a driving enthusiast would probably find it uninspiring, but if you just drive to get from A to B its fine ...
Advantages: Fun with roof down Disadvantages: Unreliable
I traded my lovely old car in for a 1 year old C3Pluriel, a 54 plate which had only had one other owner. I was so excited as it was the car i had always dreamed of! It was the 1.6 Sensodrive version with all additional extras - luxury!
The first 4 weeks were fine and then i noticed that the car was less responsive when pulling away at junctions. A week later it got stuck in 1st gear and then broke down. Being an 'intelligent' car, the AA were unable to restart it. I was towed away on the back of their lorry.
After a repair and new part was fitted, it was fantastic again! Until it started slipping again at junctions. I had my foot on the accelerator but the car wouldn't go anyway and then the next car at the roundabout or junction would pull out and, vroom, my power would kick in and i'd fly towards them! Not very safe!
Then ...
