Advantages: Big roomy car Disadvantages: Poor quality
A very large roomy car with a very comfortable ride, the main complaint i (and others) have whit it is the electrics. I have have done 46k miles in 3.5 years and have now had 5 batteries fitted after the cells have crumbled in side them, the central locking keeps unlocking itself and stays unlocked even although it should re lock its self after 30 seconds and the hatch pops open as you drive along the road. As the car came with a 3 year warranty you can imagine the number of times it was in and out of Citroen only to be told "we cannot find anything wrong , and i was just unlucky to get a faulty battery each time. The other problem with this car is the poor fuel consumption, I average around 31 MPG ( and I do a fair mix of driving) and was told by the dealer after several complaints "Its a big heavy car sir that not bad"
Great car ...
Advantages: Good styling and plenty of gadgets Disadvantages: Citroen reputation
When looking for a car recently I wanted everything and thought I would have to compromise. To my surprise I didn't and I am now the proud owner of this car. Leaving facts and figures aside it's a great looking car, affordable, sporty and packs a turbo diesel punch!
It had to be less than £10,000
No more than 3 or 4 years old
No more than 20,000 miles on the clock
Low fuel consumption
Low tax bracket £150 a year max
Sporty looks and decent performance
Good resale value
Plenty of gadgets (I am a bloke after all)
Good ride and handling
Believe it or not the CitroenC4, specifically the coupe VTS 2.0HDi diesel delivered on all of the above. Citroën has never given buyers in this class a car as good as the C4. The old Xsara - and before that ZX - failed to hit the spot with bland looks and little innovation. But the C4 is ...
you want 'sporty', you can get a 2 litre 145BHP focus for the same money. But, if you must have 'toys', the 1.6 VTEC Civic Exec has as many an is as cheap, or how about a Fabia vRS with all the options bar sat nav - and change?! Even a Mazda 3 has to be a better purchase.
I am truly sorry if you have bought a C4 - and even more so if it has a lower spec engine (the 90bhp 1.4) as it's quite a big car but, in reality, a bit pointless. The boot isn't big enough, the ride is poor, the handling is not good and there is no power.
One to be avoided. ...
