I bought my C5 as a replacement for an ageing 406 HDi. Any car I own has to be an excellent cruiser, comfortable and reliable and (touch wood) the C5 has been all of these. In the 5 months I\'ve owned it, I\'ve covered approx 9000 miles. The only costs I\'ve had are a full service and cambelt when I bought it (I always do this with every car I buy) and 4 wheel alignment (car was scrubbing the front tyres). Apart from this - nothing else.
The equipment levels of this car are great. The air con is a boon; the c.d. player gives good playback, although the radio reception can be a bit hit and miss at times; the on board computer gives interesting statistics (!); the automatic lights are a boon; automatic wipers are great; the cruise control a God send on long journeys. All in all, it has everything I want and need in a car
Another reason I bought the car was to tow my caravan, and what a tow car!!! Ample power when pulling away and it cruises at 60 mph in 5th gear. The only time I need to change down is when driving up steep motorway inclines. The most impressive part, however, is the self leveling suspension. Where my old 406 would sag with a caravan on the back, the C5 stays level, thus improving stability
Fuel consumption is excellent for a car of this size. On a long journey at steady motorway speeds, the car will easily return 48 mpg. Even town driving is good, recording a figure just above 40 mpg - not bad for a 2.2 diesel!!!
As and when this car needs to be replaced (not for a while I hope!!), I will definately be on the look out for another C5, something I've never considered before with any other make of car I've owned (and I've owned many cars!). I would highly recommend this car to anyone

Review of Citroen C5 2.2 HDi
Advantages: Gorgeous to drive and travel in. Comfortable, practical and capacious and dripping with gadgets. Disadvantages: Not a car for the DIYer. No Haynes manual. Expensive to service and rear brakes dreadfully designed.
