Citroen C5 3.0 V6

I have had my Citroen C5 3.0 V6 for two weeks now and it's great. But I don't understand why all the car mags (eg, Top Gear, What Car) rate it as boring, and ugly... I find its looks attractive and distinctive - less brash that the Mondeo, and less eccentric than the Laguna. Its interior is significantly more attractive than the Mondeo I looked at - for me the C5's art nouveau inspired curves are so much more livable-with than the macho metal bits ...

I find its looks attractive and distinctive - less brash that the Mondeo, and less eccentric than the Laguna. Its interior is significantly more attractive than the Mondeo I looked at - for me the C5's art nouveau inspired curves are so much more livable-with than the macho metal bits and American-looking fake veneer, and frankly naff clock in the Mondeo. I am quite spoiled by the C5, as after a test drive in an HD2.2, I went back to order one, to find this 3.0 V6 sitting in the showroom with a huge discount (from £24,000 down to under £18k). This is is because as a top spec (auto, leather seats, sat nav, etc) model, the price was up in the Audi/BMW range and customers weren't prepared to pay so much for a Citroen. So I'm enjoying a huge plush interior, with every gadget you can think of (parking sensors, wing mirrors that fold in when you park, sunroof, cruise control, aircon, CD, sat nav, Trafficmaster, heated seats, auto windscreen wipers and various traction/brake things I can never remember the names of).
One feature of this car I am not sure I can rate yet is the adaptive gearbox and suspension. A computer senses the way you are driving and the road conditions, and changes the behaviour of the car - lowers the suspension when going fast, raises it on a slow bumpy road, changes gear at higher revs if you are driving more sportily. I think I am finding it a bit disconcerting - I don't notice anything different about the suspension, but the gearbox does behave in different ways from time to time, and I would rather control this myself by, for example, pressing the Sport button when I want to accelerate more abruptly.
One problem - the sat nav does not work, and the dealer is more at home with oily spanners than a computer. I suspect they have just scratched the CD that holds the maps, but they are insisting on replacing the whole unit. ALso... the fuel consumption is dire - about 23mpg according the on board computer (did I mention that?).
Although I got a bargain, I realise that the inability of the garage to sell it at full price means the depreciation will be awful. And it is not helped by the strange prejudices of car mags - I wish I knew what their criteria are.
By the way, although listed as a saloon in What Car, and looks like one, this is in fact a hatchback, with a huge luggage space.
