I am going to write this review as someone who does not understand the technicalities of a car but as someone who just wants to get in and drive (are you with me ladies?).
My birthday present this year was a 51 reg Citroen Picasso SX HDI. After messing about with the figures, Reg Vardy (whose customer service was second to none by the way) managed to get the price down to £6200. With only 41,000 miles on the clock it was absolutely immaculate inside and out.
A funky shaped car, this is very different to anything I had owned before. I was a bit nervous at first as it seemed quite big (well compared to the Corsa I had traded in for it it was). I soon got used to the size of it but was very overawed by the size of the windscreen - IT SEEMED HUGE!!!. Again I soon got used to it.
The seats are wonderfully comfortable. On the SX the drivers seat has height and lumbar adjustment and both
front seats have an armrest - sheer comfort. The height of the car also means that you don't have to bend down to get in the seats - You are at the same height - just slide in effortlessly. There are 3 full size rear seats and what I was very pleased with is the middle seat has a proper diagonal seat belt - not just a lap belt - which is very cleverly stored at roof height when not in use. The middle rear seat can be moved forwards so children can be nearer to you and it also folds flat and doubles as a tray with cup holders. On the rear of the front seats there are fold down trays with cup holders. Also in the rear there are 2 concealed storage areas in the floor so kids can hide away the likes of gameboys. These are covered by floor mats so they can't be seen.
The boot is HUGE - no more having to put shopping on the back seat for me!!! There's also a fold up crate/ trolley on wheels stored in the boot for emm... well I haven't used this yet but I know it's there!.
Right I'm sat in the drivers seat and in front of me is the adjustable steering wheel with CD/radio controls on it - something new to me (can you tell I've been used to basic cars).
There are no dials in this car (something else I got used to very quickly). Everything is digitally displayed on a large LED panel in the middle of the dashboard - very easy to see. Your speed is displayed as large numbers and wait for it.... you can set a speed limiter. A beep sounds if you go over a pre-set speed. So for example if you are in a 30 MPH zone, you can set the speed to 29 or 30 and if you travel over this limit a warning beep sounds. This is stopped by a quick press on a control stick on the right hand side of the steering wheel.
This control stick is how you use the digital display. It will show your average speed, how many miles you have left before you need to put fuel in, average mile per gallon (which combined at the minute is 49 MPG - quite impressive for a 2litre diesel), date, which radio station you are tuned into or CD including which track you are listening to. Again you get used to it's functions very quickly once you've had a play about with it.
Permantly displayed on the LED dash is the temperature, fuel indicator, mileage. The rest of the display can be turned off if you wish and the brightness can be turned down. It also displays the outside temperature and warns you of the risk of ice if the temparture falls below 3*c.
Other very well thought out features of this car are if you have your front windscreen wipers on and you select reverse, the rear windscreen wiper automatically comes on. The windscreen wipers are also speed sensitive so that if you speed up when its raining the windscreen wipers speed up and..... the radio/CD player turns itself up as you go faster and turns it self down as you slow down!!! This model has air conditioning, electric windows and wing mirrors. There is a button on the dashboard which locks all the doors and the boot automatically locks once you get above 12mph whether the doors are locked or not so no one can get in the boot if you are stationary. This only unlocks once the engine had been turned off.
This car is a pleasure to drive. It is an excellent family car and has had a lot of thought put into it. Everything you need is there at your fingertips. It's extremely comfortable and very quiet inside - my only regret - I didn't get an automatic for even more effortless driving.
Well done Citroen - no wonder it is the best selling MPV.

You certainly appear very pleased with it. A thorough review. Maureen
Advantages: Space inside for all of us and for the pushchair and my mums wheelchair as well. Disadvantages: Always in the garage for various electrical problems.
