I originally brought this car for myself after chanig my Audi A4..... what a mistake.....( bare with me i'm not really slagging the car off).. after finding out my wife was pregnant with our daughter i looked at something on the practical side, i didn't want an MPV as i think there a waste of time(yes you have seven seats but no boot space, takes the back seats out and your left with an oversized estate with two two seats stuck in your dining room!!!) any way i decided to take a look at the Picasso it was quite a decent looking car big enough for the kids nice high driving position plenty of room. So i went to my local Citreon dealer and saw the one i ended up buying. It was there forecourt for £5500 its an X reg 2000 model, which i thought from a dealer was a good price it has full service and the rest , so i took it for drive and to be honest it was ok to drive nice seating position nice layout
of the controls everything nicely within reach, so the deal was done.
The car itself has been no bother at all since we've had it ( about 18 months) i have no complaints about the car it does exactly what i intened it to do ... be a family car.... the good points about it are that it has five good sized seats so everyone gets a proper seat, there is more than enough space to put everything you need, there's boxes under the two front seats and holes with lids in the back between front and back seats( where your feet are if your in the back! ) there are fold out tables on the back of the front seats( like on aeroplanes) which is nice for the kids to put there food or if there drawing or whetever, the boot is of ample size ( we can get a double pushchair, not one of those flimsy ones a proper three wheeled monster, and a single three wheeled buggy in there) all three back seats can be folded down and folded forward and taken out aswell( we brought our kitchen from ikea and managed to get everything in the boot with the seats out! ). you have a bottle holder/ cubby hole type thing uner the gearstick which is good for storing phones and keys and things but i would have like to have had some sort of cup holder somewhere.
In the front you have a nice driving position, because of the design of the car the gearbox is mounted at the base of the dash so you don't have a big lump between the seats like a normal car, which is really useful for carring long things ( like doors and worktops) the layout of the instuments is spot on for ease of use, the speedo in the middle of the dash takes a bit of getting use to but is a good idea. the stereo in this car is as basic as they come its a cd/radio ( only one disk at a time) and it really doesn't sound that good either( i'll be taking this one out and replacing it) you get controls on the stearing wheel for the stereo but i never bother with them they don't feel in the right place for me. You get all the usual safety features ABS airbags front and side, electric front windows , heated mirrors, remotre central locking, PAS, A/C . the interior is quite basic but not bland like some cars , there is cloth trim instead of all plastic everywhere.
The handling of the car is probably for me the biggest let down it is a comfortable ride but when cornering or going round islands these need to be done at quite a slow pace, because the car sits higher than normal cars more body roll occurs and this at first can be quite unnerving, but i guess if this intended to be a family car your not really going to lob it round islands at 60 mph!! The acceration for this particular model isn't blistering either 0-60 take about 12 seconds which isn't bad for a car of this size but it would have prehaps been better had it been given 16v and a turbo diesel instead of a common rail engine.
The other benefit i thought when buying this car was that it was a diesel which meant better fuel economy, i get roughly 45-48 mpg. i'm also led to believe my many people that the diesel engine from this manufacturer is one of the best you can buy, which i must say i am seeing in this car as it uses very little oil and requires pretty much no looking after.
Which leads me to another bad point not from the car but from dealer, i looked at having the car serviced by a citreon dealer and they wanted close to £200 for a service( 80000 mile service, which i think is quite a major one) which i thought for such a car from this particular dealer was quite high(citreons not beeing really an expensive type of car) , when i asked if they give me a courtesy car and valet my car they replied with a " sorry sir we don't offer that service" i was quite shocked. ( i had my audi serviced by audi and was given a courtesy car and full valet for the same price as citreon).
So all in all i must say as a family car this is a nice cheap practical no hassle easy to drive car, but thats all it is theres noting exciting about and if you want a fast family car then stear clear this isn't for you.
after six months of driving this car i got bored of it and gave it to my wife and brought my myself an Audi A6 2.8 quattro which is great and hasn't killed me yet!!!!

Advantages: Space inside for all of us and for the pushchair and my mums wheelchair as well. Disadvantages: Always in the garage for various electrical problems.
