They were on such a good offer I couldn't resist, and I knew if I didn't like them, my fiance would use them as he isn't fussy about what shampoo he uses! One of the bottles I picked up was Herbal Essences Silk n Shine shampoo in a pretty pink bottle, so based on that fact I decided to try this one first.
Herbal Essences are a brand of shampoos produced by the haircare company Clairol. They have an extensive product catalogue made up of various shampoos and conditioners for different hair types. You probably know the company from the infamous TV adverts of the woman shouting "yes, yes, YES!" in the shower when washing her hair...a tad over the top but somewhat memorable I suppose. Their shampoos are widely available in most chemists and supermarkets so its quite easy to find their products when out doing your shopping.
Now to this particular shampoo. As I mentioned, this shampoo is called Silk 'n' Shine, and is part of the 'Herbs and Botanics' range of Herbal Essences shampoos (they also produce Fruit Fusions and Rainforest Flowers). This shampoo comes in a clear plastic bottle with a lovely picture at the back of the shampoo of roses, giving it a very girly and pretty look. The shampoo itself is also a light pink colour and offsets nicely with the picture on the back of the bottle. It has the Herbal Essences logo at the top, with a 'Shine Satisfaction' badge, which fills you with hope that you will indeed get wonderful shine from you hair with using this shampoo!
This shampoo is a replenishing shampoo, and is aimed at those with coloured, dry permed or damaged hair. I had my hair coloured with low-lights in April, so therefore I wanted a shampoo which would protect my colour but also give me great shine and strength to my hair. The shampoo contains Rose Hips, Jojoba and Vitamin E, which are the botanical ingredients. I didn't really know about these ingredients so after a little internet search, I found that rose hips are the fruit of the rose plant, jojoba is a shrub native to the deserts in California and well, we all have heard of Vitamin E. So overall, this shampoo contains some pretty nice plants which are said to help your hair...so did they do just that?
Well, I tried this first about a week ago and have used it since in order to get a good idea of how it leaves my hair after prolonged use, because I sometimes find shampoos start off good and then become awful for my hair. So on the first wash, the soft rose scent really struck me, it didn't smell strong in the bottle but when I started to lather it up on my hair, the smell was released and surrounded my bathroom really quickly. I noticed that I didn't need to use a lot of the shampoo to create a thick, bubbly lather on my hair, about a 10 pence sized blob was more than enough, and evenly coated my hair. I thought it might be hard to rinse out because of the amount of lather in my hair, but it came out quickly and easily, leaving my hair feeling squeaky clean. Even when I'd rinsed all the shampoo out, the smell of roses was really strong but not unpleasantly so, so I was quite impressed by that.
When I'd dried my hair, I could certainly smell the rose smell still all over my hair, even my partner commented on how sweet my hair smelt. But what struck me the most was how soft my hair was. I'd previously tried a new Tigi shampoo which left it feeling like straw, so I knew that this Herbal Essences shampoo had really contributed to its softness. I don't use conditioner (it just leaves my hair so greasy and limp) but even so, I didn't have to struggle with any tangles, the comb went through easily, and by the time my hair was completely dry, it was so soft and shiny. When I went out in last weeks sunshine, my hair was really shining, the colours were so vibrant, especially the red low-lights, I was so impressed. Even after 2 days when it needed another wash, my hair wasn't too greasy and didn't look awful as it sometimes does, so another good point!
As I mentioned before, I have used this for a week now and I am just more impressed with the results the more I use it. My hair is consantly soft and silky, and the emphasis to my coloured hair is fantastic. The colours really stand out and gleam in the light, and the combined softness just makes me really happy with my hair, and with the shampoo. I would really recommend it to anyone who wants soft and silky hair, with a gorgeous scent which really does linger in your hair for quite a while...I usually wash my hair in the evening and it still smells rosy in the morning, brilliant!
You can buy the shampoo in 2 different sized bottles, a 200ml bottle will cost you around £1.80, and the 400ml size will cost £2.98, so is better value overall. I got my 400ml bottle for just 95p in Superdrug (bargain!) and Boots currently have the larger size on Buy-One-Get-One-Free which is a great offer if you want to stock up. A matching conditioner can be bought in this range too. For more information on Herbal Essences shampoos and conditioners, see their website www.herbalessences.com.

...to see she had bought Clairol Herbal Essences shampoo for us to use while we were there.
My hair is long, dyed blonde and subsequently, very dry. So she bought the shampoo in this range that ‘replenishes coloured / permed / dry / damaged hair’. So what’s it like? Does it work? Does it do what it says on the bottle? Read on and be enlightened.
The design of this bottle is very impressive – although I was disappointed to find ... ...to try the conditioner that Clairol do (Herbal Essences Protection Conditioner), but at the moment, I’ve been using my old Asda brand, which works well enough.
The back of the bottle explains what is so good about the shampoo. It is made with natural, organic herbs and something called botanicals. They use pure mountain spring water and in this type of the shampoo, it is combined with rose hips, jojoba and vitamin E. They definitely seem to ...

I live in a very hard water area, but never have any problems getting a good lather with this shampoo. WHAT IS HERBAL ESSENCES COLOUR REPLENISHER SHAMPOO? Herbal Essences Colour Replenisher Shampoo (or HECRS) is a shampoo sold at drugstores and grocery stores around the world. It is designed for those with coloured/permed/dry/damaged hair. (even though I have neither)
Herbal Essences is the shampoo that all the women on TV use when their husbands aren't home.
WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
The shampoo is pink and clear. The texture is quite runny, but ... ...WHAT DOES IT SMELL LIKE?
Mmmmm, HECRS smells like flowers and spring water to me! It is a very pleasent and strong smell, though not orgasm-inducing. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
HECRS are among the least inexpensive products at the drugstore. I bought a bottle in Canada for $3.99.
I've used an exchange rate website to see how much HECRS should be in Britain, and I came up with the result 1.63 GBP (if this is right or wrong, please let me know below)

I can't really remember why I first chose this of the supermarket shelf. It was possibly that it is a very reasonable price for a branded shampoo, possibly because it is attractively packaged. All I know is that I have been using this shampoo (with the matching conditioners) for quite a long time now and I am very happy with it.
My hair washing history

I have long hair, about waist length, and it tends to get very dry at ... ...hair. I have used lots of different brands of shampoos and conditioners over the years, VO5, Pantene Pro-V etc. Mainly I have stuck to the cheaper varieties though, and have often used Tesco's own. Therefore I am unable to compare Herbal Essences with the more expensive end of the market, but when I compare it to similarly priced shampoo's in my mind it outshines the rest.

A few of weeks ago I was cruising the aisles at Tesco looking for my usual shampoo, when I happened upon their latest BOGOF offer - two 250ml bottles of Clairol?sHerbalEssences 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner for £1.99. I had never tried HerbalEssences before, despite being very suggestible to anything that has natural sounding ingredients. Perhaps it was the stupid advert that turned me off. However, these particular bottles were calling me, claiming to be replenishing for dry/damaged hair. My hair and scalp are seriously dry. If you?ve ever been a bit run down, you will probably have noticed your hair suffers. Well, after a 10 year illness, you can imagine what my hair is like. If I didn?t keep it so short it would resemble straw. The Clairolshampoo sounded promising, so into the trolley it went.
On reflection, I should ...
Advantages: trusted brand for decades Disadvantages: too many
Awwful!Awful! What can i say?I know most 2in 1 shampoos still need conditioning. This one Definitely needs some!like most of them from these ranges,it smells awfully artificial,Not all herbal in scent or texture or effects!I was beginning to suspect if they use 100% chemicals, nothing herbal at all!The plastic odour from the bottle somehow seems to melt into the shampoo so it smells artificial and plasticky as well.
Lkie the rest,it lathers quickly, effortlessly but feels like cheap bubble soap kids blow from their soap bottles. No creaminess, smoothness, you'd hardly believe it has conditioner in it.Infact any regular NON two in one shampoo does better.Check those common Jap brands for comparison.
Well, like other clairolherbalessence -- it only cleans well like a normal piece of soap.I'm only thankful it didn't harm my hair follicle ...
