What it is
This is an energizing morning cream (facial moisturiser) made by Clarins. It claims to give you instant radiance, "a true beauty booster" and "the perfect moisturiser for dull, tired, lacklustre skin.
The Bottle
The plastic bottle has a special "airless design" to protect the ingredients from air and light. The bottle has a screw top lid which then reveals a smooth surface with a small circle in the centre. You press the top of the bottle and a small amount of cream is released around the centre circle. On the first time you use the cream you have to press several times but after this you only require a small press. Although this is a great way to protect the cream from going off or getting dirty or contaminated from dust, dirt etc. it does mean if you dispense too much you cant put it back in the bottle. Having said this though I have never had this problem with the cream.
Ingredients
The cream is made from plant extracts with vitamins and minerals. It contains the Vitamins A, B, C, E and K and the minerals zinc, magnesium, manganese and calcium. Plant extracts include cashew nut (never seen that before in a cream only in a Chinese dish along with chicken!), peach, orange, kiwi, pineapple, papaya, sesame, hops and sage. It also contains Vitacreatine which according to Clarins is a natural energising complex exclusive to Clarins (none the wiser, no neither am I, sounds impressive though!). The ingredients do give the impression of quality natural ingredients.
How to Use
After dispensing a small amount of cream into your hands you should then pat it onto your clean face and neck using your hands to press the cream in. Clarins advise you not to rub the product into your skin as this can stretch the skin. The cream is a thick white cream and absorbs quickly into your skin. There is no greasiness which you can get with some moisturisers.
The Smell
It smells of quality (if that's a smell!). It is the best smelling moisturiser I have used, you can smell the fresh plants and flowers and it just wants to make me want to put it on my skin. I keep opening the lid just now as I write this and just think "Mmmm" it really does smell good.
The Cost
There is nearly always a downside and with Clarins that is usually the cost. Clarins products certainly cant be classed as being cheap. My bottle which is 50ml cost me £32 from my Department Store. It is a lot more expensive than some but not as dear as others and I think it is worth every penny, I do love using it and enjoy the luxurious feel of it on my skin.
My Thoughts
Before using this moisturiser my skin was going through a very dry stage. I have combination skin which means I have dry and oily patches. I tend to have a dry, flaky forehead but can get greasy skin around the nose and chin with occasional spots. I felt that my current moisturiser wasn't giving me enough moisturising on the dry spots so I went along to the Clarins counter to ask their advice.
The Clarins woman said that although my current moisturiser was probably right for my skin before as it was now drier and with winter well on its way I probably would benefit from a little "pick me up" for my skin. She recommended the Energizing Moisturising Cream to moisturise, replenish and give my skin a little boost then I could go back to using my ordinary cream after I had finished this one.
I have now been using the cream for around 6 weeks, I use it only in the morning and have another product for night time. The bottle still feels quite full although (and this is another downside) you can't see into the bottle because of the design so its hard to know when you are running low.
My skin has been improving and my forehead no longer has any dry flaky skin even though we are in to Mid December and the weather is getting colder. My skin feels smoother and more hydrated.
I love using the cream. After applying it my skin feels softer, plumper and I do feel it gives a little more radiance. I think its worth the money and I will continue to use it and enjoy it.
For those who aren't familiar with Clarins products they are available in most department stores and larger Boots. If you go to the Clarins counter and ask they will often give you a free small trial sample of the product which is very useful especially if you have sensitive skin and want to be sure it is the product for you before you part with your money.
Advantages: absorbs really quickly, smooths skin, brightening effect Disadvantages: thick texture to start with, easy to use too much, not the cheapest of moisturisers!
This is a lovely fresh moisturiser which sinks in so quickly, it leaves the face very soft and even if you apply it to an area that isnt in so much need of a moisturiser, t zone for example it doesnt leave any greasiness at all. When you first put it on you think it is going to be very thick and too creamy as it apprears white on your face but when you start to smooth it over the skin it just melts in. It has a gentle smell not too strong and soft ... ...people. I love the packaging as it is very classic, nothing flashy that stands out but i know the brand and i trust what is in the products as ive never had any reaction to the ingredients. There are other creams out there however that do the same thing but i have to admit none seem to dissappear into the skin quite so quickly, a lot of other moisturisers have to be left for 5-10 minutes before applying foundations, this one i can put foundation ...

...drained. I bought a Clarins holdall before chrismas with a range of items in it. This morning cream was in it, it is quite a thick cream, and does not smell as nice as other clarins products I have used. You only need to use a small amount and that does the trick, my skin looked very healthy and awake. So it does what it says and energises your skin and makes it feel very smooth. ...

Formulations for all skin types (cream, gel and lotion), smoother skin that feels toned after a couple of applications, matching serum top-up for extra dry skin, one jar lasts for ages and smells fresh, clean and gorgeous.
Prohibitively expensive for a straight-up, non anti-ageing facial moisturiser. Lightly perfumed and non-hypoallergenic - unsuitable for sensitive skin. (*)
