Clarins has a very good reputation for excellent skin care products. The company was originally formed in 1954, so it has 52 years of skin care experience! You should expect to pay considerably more for any of their products as you are buying a branded, quality product.
Clarins products are created from plant extracts, each with their own qualities to offer to the skin. The products are rigorously tested to ensure that they are safe and that their benefits are positive for the user. Clarins actually carry out real life testing on volunteers, over 5000 of them!
Clarins are also an environmentally friendly company, favouring recyclable packaging where ever possible.
In addition to this, they do not test on animals which is a big consideration for a lot of people, including myself.
I had this product bought for me as a gift - I don't think I would stretch to the hefty price tag had I been looking for a night cream myself!
The cream is suitable for all skin types, so whether you have dry skin or oily skin, this cream is appropriate for you! As I have already mentioned, prepare to pick yourself up off the floor when you have to hand the money over, as at around £37.50 for 50ml, it's quite a price!
The product is aimed at more mature skins, I am only 31 and I don't class my skin as mature just yet, but I like rich creams which make my skin feel supple and firm, so I usually ignore these recommendations.
The cream comes in a screw top pot in the classical Clarins style, the colours being cream and gold. The pot is made from frosted glass and the overall look is one of quality. It will look good on anyones bathroom shelf!!
The ingredients are all natural and include -
- Moringa This is a tree found in India, Africa, Madagascar and some parts of South America. It is used to purify and detoxify the skin.
- Rosemary Yes, the same plant that we have with our lamb!! In this cream, it is used to de-stress and moisturise the skin.
- Sandalwood Originally, sandalwood was used to help stomach upsets, but in face creams, its main use is to add a pleasant fragrance.
- Shea You have probably herd of Shea Butter which is used in lots of different creams and hand creams. It is a fantastic moisturiser and also offers protection to the skin.
- Vanilla Another lovely smelling ingredient. Vanilla is used as it has a protection action for the cells in the skin, reducing the chance of fine lines deepening to form wrinkles.
The cream claims the following -
- Erases signs of fatigue and soothes skin - Firms and refreshes the skin - On waking, the face looks visibly more youthful - Slows the skin-ageing process even more effectively by providing innovative neuro-immune protection.
I have only been using the cream for a few weeks, but I honestly think that my skin has improved in its appearance. Any fine lines that I had, do seem to be reducing and my skin feels like a firm peach!! I cannot agree with the statement that upon waking the face looks more youthful as I always look like I've been dragged through a hedge and not slept for a week in the mornings! I don't think any cream could help rectify this! But overall, the results do seem to be positive.
The cream is intended for application last thing at night after cleansing and toning. It has a pleasing scent which is not overpowering and is absorbed very easily into the skin. It does not leave a greasy feeling, but I do have fairly dry skin so perhaps my skin gulps up all the moisture from the cream. I suppose that if you have more of a greasy skin, it may leave some residue, but I can't see this being a draw back, as the cream is so pleasant to use.
The cream has a fairly thick consistency and you only need a little to achieve results. Over the few weeks that I have been using it, you can't really tell that the pot has been used. I'm sure it will last me a long time.
So, in conclusion, although this is an expensive product, I do actually think that it is worth those extra pennies! When my current pot has finished I shall be going out and buying another one, this time with my own money……..although my birthday is coming up…….!!

Great review.
I love this cream also but Clarins have discontinued it now. I wish they hadn't.
You can still buy it on Ebay and some online stores but beware of it being off. I bought it on Ebay and has to throw it out.
