This is a great opportunity to try some of the other Clarins products without splashing out your cash. One product I got a trial size of was the Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream.
The tube I have is only 30ml but the actual size in the shop for sale is 100ml, prices vary depending where you buy but it is £14.50 at www.pharmacy2u.co.uk.
This is as it says a hand and nail cream, which claims to have the following benefits:-
- Protecting hands from chapping and irritation and gives an even appearance - Moisturises and gives smooth supple hands - Strengthens nails - Minimises current age spots and prevents the appearance of new spots.
So does it do what it says on the tin (so to speak!). Read on to find out.
What is in it?
As with most Clarins products it is packed with plant extracts. In this cream there is Myrrh extract which is to strengthen the nails, Aloe which is moisturising and also gentle and soothing for irritated skin, Big Black Root (never heard of this) which is stimulating and Shea which moisturises, protects skin, regenerates, revitalises and softens so all in all a pretty good ingredient in a hand and nail cream. However it does say on the back of the tube that there is only 6.7% plant extracts.
What does it smell of?
It has a pleasant smell which does smell of plants and there is almost a hint of a spicy smell to it. Once absorbed into your skin you can still smell the pleasant fragrance.
What is the cream like?
Well it's a creamy white colour and is moderately thick. It's a real nice thickness, not too thick but not too runny. It absorbs quickly into your skin and there is no greasiness.
What does my skin feel like?
My skin feels soft and smooth. I get quite dry cracked skin because I suffer from eczema but after using this I feel a big difference.
So does it do what it says?
Well firstly it does protect my hands and soothe the irritation so gets a tick in the box for the first category. It moisturises and makes my hands smooth and supple so that's the second category passed. Not sure about the nail strengthening, I don't currently have any problems with my nails, no splitting so can't really comment on its strength in this area. Finally the age spots, again can't comment, thankfully don't have any age spots at the moment as still in my 20's (just!). Come back and ask me in 20 years!
My Thoughts
This is a lovely hand cream that is pleasantly scented, leaves skin feel soft, smooth and soothes irritation. However I don't think I would pay the £14.50 or more to buy hand cream. I do like Clarins products and am prepared to pay more for face products but don't like to spend as much on my hands so whilst I am happy to use the free sample I wouldn't necessarily buy the full priced product.
Advantages: Leaves hands feeling soft and smooth. Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive than the average hand cream!
...Mum used to always buy Clarins or Clinique products for me and my sister, the brother didn't get a look in, not that he wanted beauty products..........in those days the 'new man' didn't exist and male pampering was very much frowned upon, how times have changed!
However once the mortgage, bills etc reared their ugly heads, Clarins products became a luxury and I now rely upon birthdays and Christmas to receive them. And lo and behold on my birthday ... ...be kept at bay!
Clarins suggest that if you already have age spots and are exposed to sunny climates, (I wish, to the sun), you should use also use their Age-Control Hand Lotion during the day.
~ Price ~
At department stores such as John Lewis and House of Fraser this retails between £14 and £15 but if you shop around, as I do on the net you can get it for a few pounds cheaper, but be aware of postage costs.

Advantages: Smells gorgeous Disadvantages: Too expensive
...a little a joke but Clarins is a brand which has been on the marked for a very long time: Jacques Courtin-Clarins opened the first Clarins Institute de Beaute in Paris in 1954. He developed treatments and products using natural botanical ingredients first for the body and then for the face and was the first to use 100% pure plant extracts so their reputation has grown strong through the years everywhere in the world.
This product is my favourite ... ...languages and has details of Clarins contacts around the world in case something goes wrong of if you have any feedback. The tub itself is nothing special, the soft plastic it is made of allows an easy squeeze which means you don't have to struggle with it, on it you will find red writing and just a bit of gold, nothing fancy: I suppose it is rather simple but classy. At the end of the day yes, I understand, we do like a bit of bling when we take ...

Quick review of Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream
I have been using clarins products since i was student, so many years ago. The hand and nail treatment is excellent, helps with signs of ageing, strengthens nails and i would notice a difference if i stopped using it for a while. It helps keep my hands soft and young looking. I wouldnt use anything else. ...

Review of Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream
Advantages: Great smell ,easily aborbed Disadvantages: Costly and not really rich enough to be effective.
...generally a big fan of Clarins and took the opportunity to take a free sample when I purchased some other products. I kept it in my handbag and used it whenever I was out and about, I have to say it absorbs easily and smells great. On the negative side its rather expensive and doesn't seem to spread very far, which means that unlike many of their other products it doesn't represent very good value for money. So on the whole you could buy a supermarket ...
