I bought this Clarins 'One Step Facial Cleaner' when I was in Duty Free, I needed a new cleanser so I thought I would give this one a go since I have never tried it before. This particular cleaner is meant to cleanse and tone in one easy step, which I thought was good since it would cut some time out of cleansing and toning separately.
The cleanser comes with orange extract and is meant to 'renew radiance'.
The bottle is quite a simple design. It is made of see-through clouded white plastic with a red 'Clarins' logo at the stop of the bottle. It then has the name of the cleanser in French and then underneath that 'One Step Facial Cleanser With Orange Extracts'. The bottle has a white plastic lid which twists off and the cleanser comes of a spout at the top of the bottle.
Since the cleanser comes out of a tiny hole at the top of the bottle then it is easy to control how much comes out of it so you don't use too much.
The cleanser is 'dual action', it has two different layers of actual liquid. The liquid is really runny, the same consistency as water. The bottom layer of liquid is an orange colour and the upper layer is clear. This means you have to make sure to shake the bottle before you use it, else you will just be using the top layer all the time (I kept making that mistake to begin with!)
The cleanser is really easy to use. You shake the bottle so that the two layers mix together and then simply squirt the cleanser on to a cotton wool ball and wipe your face with it. You don't have to wash it off so it is quick and easy to use. I then follow it with my normal moisturiser.
The cleanser is suitable for all skin types, but I found that after I applied this to my skin, my skin just felt like a thick layer of oil.. this does sink in eventually and doesn't feel as oily afterwards, but this takes about 5 minutes (which actually doesn't make cleanser and toning in one step that much quicker than doing them both separately since you have to wait for it to sink in before you apply your moisturiser) I really don't like how it feels. It says it is suitable for all skin types but I think if your skin is particularly oily, I don't think putting something on your skin that makes it feel even oilier is that good.
The cleanser is gentle and didn't irritate my skin, but I just didn't like the oily feeling it gave me right after I used it. It did make my skin feel soft afterwards, but I just couldn't shake that oily feeling off!
The cleanser is to be used up within 12 months of being opened.
Although I bought this in duty free (I can't remember how much I paid for it) it is available from Boots for £16 for a 200ml bottle.
It was good trying something new since I hadn't tried this before, but I won't be buying another one once this runs out. To tell the truth I am just using it to use it all up since I don't want it going to waste. This isn't the cleanser/toner for me at all. I just can't get over the initial oiliness. A pretty disappointing buy really!
