A few weeks back, I reviewed the Clarins One Step Cleanser but with that there are a range of other products which can be used to keep your skin looking good. At the time when buying the Cleanser, I was also talked into buying the Exfoliating Cleanser as well. I wasn't just talked into it but did really need one as my skin was not looking as glowing and healthy as it used to, probably due to my busy schedule. I decided to buy it and see if it was any good, at the worst, I just wouldn't use it again, no big loss.
Again, you don't always need to get a consultation by Clarins to know which of their products is best suited to you but I recommend it. I had an appointment with the woman who has a leaflet which she ticks products relating to your answer to her questions all skin based. They then narrow down the range to what will be best beneficial to you in terms of keeping your skin looking its best and this was one of the things chosen for me.
HISTORY
For those of you who didn't read my previous review I will quickly skim over the history of the company for you again. So, the company Clarins as we know it today was actually discovered all the way back in 1954 by a Jacques Courtin-Clarins who wanted to develop beauty and really started working with natural plants etc to help women and keeping up their appearance in a sense. Being mainly known for their skincare range up until the 90s they then decided to reach further a field and with the current market brought make up and perfume into the equation. Nowadays, they are very well known for all of these and are continuing to grow with their products being available in over 150 countries.
PACKAGING
Like all Clarins products, this comes in a tall rectangular shaped white box with a burgundy edge to it. There are gold hints to the box creating a level of sophistication and it is listed in French and English. This is a 125ml tube and it has a description of what the product is and its aims. It says that the cleanser exfoliates and revives the skin for a more radiant and healthy looking complexion. It is suited to all skin types as well even sensitive. It is meant to removes impurities and long lasting make-up, it also refines skin's texture for a more radiant complexion; it helps combat effect of pollution and lastly with its orange extracts refreshes and restores the skin's bright look.
Once you open the box you will see the tube inside which is accompanies by a few leaflets translated into the most common languages of how to use this Exfoliator. The tube is not the biggest for what you pay but if you think of how much you use, then it doesn't really take a lot anyway. The plastic is slightly hazy but you can see the level of product left inside as it is a vibrant orange colour anyway so it is not really difficult. To use the cleanser you just pop the lid open and squeeze out the cleanser.
HOW TO USE
It is recommended on the leaflet how to use it but it is not that difficult as common knowledge lets us know you squeeze a small amount. Firstly, wet your face just to get a little bit of moisture to cause a bit of lather. Then squeeze some product out onto your fingers where you instantly smell the orange, fruity notes of it which makes it feel more cleansing.
With about a 2p piece sized amount I get scrubbing the cleanser onto my face. At first it always seems slightly difficult but really scrub until it starts to foam up ever so slightly as this means it's really getting into the skin letting the small beads work to get rid of the dirt and clean out pores. It is best to wear a headband so it gets your hair off the forehead to really scrub there too.
VERDICT
I liked this product for the sense that even though the beads are quite roughly and really getting rid of the dead skin, they are not too big and rough as some scrubs almost scrape at the skin which can't be too good for it either. This just lightly scrubs away giving a nice smell and then once done gently pat dry. Once dry the skin should feel slightly smooth, I use this about three times a week and feel my skin benefits from its use.
I feel my skin looks a lot more awake after a wash and it really gets rid of the dirt and clears up my face. However, if you are wearing make up every day and not cleansing with anything then it is bound to still make you suffer from the odd break out but this cannot be blamed on this product as it takes a whole beauty regime to keep skin looking healthy and glowing.
I have been using this for a month now and am sticking with it, phew after the price I paid for it. It does the trick and it looks like a small tube but I think it has lasted me for a good while in terms of using it three times a week. Obviously, washing products will be gone through a lot quicker than others as you are using them more regularly but using this with the water Comfort Cleanser just really keeps me up to date as I use make up most days and do not want my skin to suffer.
WHERE TO BUY
Now, if you think this sounds like something you want to add to your list of ever growing beauty products then you are at the right part. I purchased my product from the Clarins counter at Boots, but there are counters in all department stores such as House of Fraser, Debenhams which you can buy from as well. I always get a bit carried away when visiting beauty counters and find myself running away with more than I went there for as they are the best sales people and I am a likely target for them as I am easily persuaded. They have lots of other products which I want to buy but how many do I really need?
The cost of this Exfoliating Cleanser is £17 which a lot of you will gasp at but for a brand with a good name that is using ingredients which are natural then this is ok. It does last and even as a little treat for yourself then it is quite reasonable.
This product should not at all irritate, it is literally a case of rinsing off once you feel you have scrubbed in enough and it should be fine. It contains Moringa Seed, to removing residue and neutralising effects of the toxic air pollution. There are also two types of micro-beads which create the scrubbing effect these clear pores and polish unwanted surface oil and dead skin cells.
If you are unable to get to a Clarins counter then the website http://uk.clarins.com has an online shop where this product can be purchased but there is a delivery charge of £4.84 unless you are spending over £60. It is probably cheaper to get to the counter really for this cost. However, they also have nice little gift sets for Christmas which contain miniatures of their skincare products just to test as well available from the website and counters.
Advantages: Makes facial skincare simpler, skin feels fresher Disadvantages: High price but you get what you pay for
If you can remember when Calpol Six Plus was a sickly orange flavour (I hated the stuff), then the best way I can describe this product is that it smells like that brand of Calpol tasted. That isn't to say it's an unpleasant fragrance in this instance, but it is very "orange" smelling in an air freshener kind of way - not at all the clean, sharp smell of a freshly sliced version of the fruit. I have the kind of skin that looks grubby and dull unless ... ...scrubs aren't right for me, which is how I ended up using this. Both my local beauty therapist and a hairdresser I know recommended it on separate occasions and, from my experience with the product, I think they know what they're talking about. For best results with this product, begin with damp skin. You can use it on your face as well as your neck and I find a squirt the size of a 10 pence coin is about right for one application to the face. (The ...

I liked the sound of the product, as until recently I had been using separate cleanser, toner and moisturiser. The cleanser and toner both had to be applied with cotton wool, and ...

...my cleanser, I am a Clarins beauty products enthusiast, therefore, 'twas no surprise to find myself at the Clarins section. I fully intended to buy the Clarins foaming cleanser; as I had had previous success with it. However, the 'Clarins Paris - One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser' 'with orange extracts' caught my eye - I decided to give it a whirl.

Advantages: Gives a really good clean Disadvantages: A bit expensive!
...there! I had tried some Clarins products before and liked them so I thought I would give this a go.
The cleanser has tiny little exfoliating beads in it to really give your skin a good clean. I absolutely love it. The cleanser didn't dry out my face but instead feels really smooth and clean and my skin didn't feel oily at all. Watch out you don't get any near your eyes (I got an exfoliating bead in my eye and it took all of 10 hours to get out again!) ... ...and it also has the Clarins logo at the top of the tube. It has a white plastic flip-top lid for quick and easy of opening and closing, but this is also unscrewable aswell.
As I say, I bought this in the duty free shop, but I have seen it in Boots for £16.50 and I have also seen it in Superdrug too, so it is widely available on the high street. Also, if you search for it on the internet there are also lots of online stores that stock it too.
Although ...

...the moment I am a Clarins nut (and I do say at the moment as I do have a tendency to be a skincare slut and change brands without any warning) and love their products and this cleanser is no exception.
