What is it?

This is a face mask from Clarins "Hydra-Care" range. It comes in a 50ml tube with a screw top lid. It comes with simple instructions on how to use it.
What does it do?

Clarins claims that it
"- Intensively rehydrates the skin's surface.
- Promotes soft, supple skin.
- Helps the skin maintain its
natural hydration process.
- Promotes a more even skin tone and brighter, more radiant complexion"
What is in it?

As with all Clarins skin products its full of natural plant extracts many of which I have never heard of. This mask contains some weird and wonderful ingredients including Himanthalia Elongata extract which is said to enhance the skin's natural moisture balance. Pinus Lambertiana and Cactus extract which allows the skin to maintain a constant level of hydration and Sweet White Lupine and Lapacho which minimises moisture loss. The only one of those ingredients I have ever heard of is cactus and I never knew it was used in skin products.
How do you use it?

You should firstly cleanse your skin, then apply a fine layer to all areas of the face and neck. You can use it on all areas of your face including the eye area. Leave the mask on for 5-10 minutes. I usually put it on and they go for a bath. Your face will now look a scary ghostly white so don't go answering the door to any unsuspecting visitors! After 5-10 minutes most of the mask will have absorbed into your skin. You can then either massage the rest of the product into your skin or remove the excess with some toning lotion on cotton wool.
How often should you use it?

You can use it as often as you want. I usually use it once a week as a skin "pick me up". If you were going through a stage of really dry skin you could use it more often for some more intensive rehydration.

It's a very easy product to use. You can put it on before your bath so it doesn't take long to add it in to your skin routine. I use a lot of
Clarins products and normally really love the smell of them but I have to say I really don't like the smell of this one its difficult to describe but its not up to Clarins usually wonderful smelling standards. However after its been on my skin feels wonderfully smooth and it helps tackle any dry patches. It is much more intensive than using ordinary moisturiser.
What does it cost?

For a 50ml tube it costs around £24 from
Boots but you can buy it around £18.99 on the internet so its worth shopping around. It is expensive but does last.
Would I recommend it?

I have mixed feelings about this product. On the positive side it really hydrates my skin and leaves it soft and smooth. On the negative side I am not really keen on the smell and its expensive. So I would say if you need a product to hydrate your skin this could be it but there might be something better on the market. If I find it I will let you know!
