When you have children, all you want is for them to have the best of everything and be happy. So when Harry started walking around, I knew it would be time for us to think about getting him a pair of proper shoes. I wasn't sure how it would work as he didn't even like socks, but the time comes for every little boy to get his first shoes. I have been told countless times we have to look after our children's feet so I headed off to the most well-known High Street shoe shop, Clarks.
I had Clarks shoes as a child, as I had very narrow feet and they were the only ones my mum could find to fit me. So I thought Clarks would be a good start for Harry. I had a look on the website before I went so I wouldn't be a complete novice when I turned up in the shop. I found out that there are a few different types of shoes for Harry's age, which was then 11 months. There are cruisers, for children like Harry who were standing and walking around holding the furniture, and First Shoes for toddlers who can walk unaided. I decided Harry was in the Pre-Walkers category.
When I arrived in my Clarks shop, which was actually part of a large Mothercare store, I went over to the display and my partner and I had a good look at all the shoes. I was a bit surprised at the prices, almost as much as the price of adult shoes! Pre-Walkers cost around £20, but the First Shoes are from £26 to about £32! The ones we chose were called "Shovel" and were little blue leather shoes, with a velcro strap across the top of the foot, and a sturdy but flexible sole. We sat there for a bit and an assistant soon came over.
We told her this would be Harry's first pair of shoes and she explained the different types to us. We determined he would definitely need Pre-Walkers and I showed her the ones we liked. She got out her measuring device, and measured Harry's socked feet. It turned out he was 4G, and she went off to get the shoes in his size. When she returned, she put them on him, and fastened them, then got him to stand up. She did a thorough feel of his feet in the shoes to make sure they fitted and that we were happy.
Now came the nice touch. We told we would indeed be buying the shoes for Harry and she told us as they are his first shoes, they will take a picture for us. So she got her Polaroid camera and took a picture of him on the floor with his shoes. It got put into a special cardboard frame, and a wonderful keepsake. The date, shoe size and fitter's name were written on the back, which is a lovely touch. Also, we got a little "Feet Size Card", which is a cardboard mini-folder with pieces of paper which allow you to record your child's size everytime you get them measured, again a nice keepsake!
I was incredibly impressed with how professional the staff were, and how she explained everything about the different shoe types to us. The service when we got Harry's pair of shoes recently was also superb. Although he was wriggly and didn't want to co=operate, they were very patient and got us to fork out another £28 for some light-up blue leather shoes in a 6 1/2 G! Again, we were given a piece of paper with his size and date to add to our folder, and told to re-measure him in 6-8 weeks, as children's feet grow so fast!
The shoes themselves are of great quality. Harry is an active little boy, yet the shoes have lasted very well, and don't scuff easily either. They are machine washable which is handy with mucky toddlers, and seem lovely and soft and comfortable to wear. I know that they are quite expensive for shoes, but in my opinion, I want to make sure Harry has shoes which are comfy, and that fit his little feet perfectly. He never moans about putting his shoes on, and I think this is because they're so comfortable and he is rather proud of them! I would most definitely recommend Clarks to any parent wanting shoes for their children, as they are superb, and will last as long as your child's feet fit them!

CLARKS STORES & CUSTOMER SERVICE

...good quality shoes is always Clarks shoes. I have always taken my children to Clarks for their first proper shoes and I always return at the start of the school year to have their feet properly measured and to purchase good quality shoes. Last year the children's feet were too small to get the shoes with the toy and they were very disappointed. For anyone who doesn't know Clarks do a range of shoes for boys and girls that have a toy hidden in the sole, you pull back the insole to reveal a tiny toy, for boys it is a little racing car and for girls it is a little ...

...so off we went to Clarks to see if we could find a pair. I have used Clarks for all of my three children although the older 2 now don't really want Clarks shoes as they are not as trendy as other shoes in other shops and to be honest I probably would not be able to afford it if they all wore Clarks. Ashley thought that it was great as he got to stand on the machine to see what size his feet where, once the sales assistant knew off she went to get ... ...and they were all Clarks sandles and Ash did not think much to them, the colours were a bit drab browns, blacks and so on. By then had resigned my self to the fact that I would have to go the next larger town to get the sandel in the colour that he wanted. These sandels were £22 which I did think to be a bit expensive but knew that Ash would get the ware out of them as they were velcro and he would be able to put them on and off himself.
As I was ...

Clarks have a good range of shoes from babies crawling to adult walking, boys and girls , mens and ladies. The babies crawling shoes start off at £16 a pair and the walking shoes go up to £40 approx. The children's shoes are the most impressive with fashionable colours and styles. All feet are measured and shoes are fitted correctly.

Reviews which might be of interest for "Clarks (Shop)"
Dear all,
I have never shopped for my children's shoes at clarke's for years. My experience of trying it once more, reconfirmed why I had stopped! My 9yr old son needed a decent (formal) pair of shoes suitable for school a short while ago. So- my husband and I decided to tow him along to our local clarke's.
When we got there,we were greeted by very young and harassed but friendly assistants, who literally pounced on us after a ten minute "ignor 'em and they might go away short staffed scenario."
Finally,we pointed to the shoes our son liked. "Sorry",the assistant sniffed, they don't go up to size 4.we were told. Fine,we tried another."sorry" she said again with all the interest and genuine concern of a hyper active dog about to be put on a leash...
At last! After about ten minutes, we actually found a pair that fitted ...

Advantages: Good layout of shoes Disadvantages: You can't ever buy anything you want because of poor stock levels
According to Clarks, any woman with a shoe size over 8 is a circus freak and they don't bother to have any 8.5 or 9s in stock in any size shop. Why they then bother to make shoes in that size at all is beyond me. They can't even train their staff to order a pair in especially. No, instead, us freaks have to use the telephone ordering system so we have to pay for the call and a £3 charge for postage. Why should I have to pay more than anyone else for my shoes? After being turned away by the big local out of town store I went 2 doors down to Brantano and got exactly the Clarks shoes I had wanted. Its not that differnt for my daughters shoes either - a baby size 5.5 - we can never get the shoes we want in the Clarksshops but can get them in other shops that stock Clarks shoes. ...

Clark’s shoes.
When I was little my mum and dad would take me to the Clarks shoe shop in St Ives Cambs. They did not like taking me there cos I would scream and scream till I made everyone sick of me. I hated new shoes, I used to be frightened of the machine that measured my feet had to put foot into a box and it gave a sort of x ray picture to measure your foot, it was scary.
However mum and dad persisted and I was bought new Clarks shoes. Clark’s shoes were and still are some of the best for little feet. My grandson has a pair. When he gets his feet measured he just has to put his foot on a foot measure and they can see by the markings on the measure what size he needs.
After Adrian’s foot is measured he will try on selected styles and the assistant will check they fit and that there is plenty of room so ...
