Innovative and ambitous but ultimately flawed
Advantages: Full of innovation, visually stunning, lots of character and detail, original Disadvantages: Gamplay gets dull and repetitive after novelty wears off, little in the way of structure
...creator of classic god-sim Populous, Black and White has you play as a God ruling over a fantasy world of tribal peoples, vying for influence with other Gods for the their attention and worship, with the amount of people that believe in you affecting your sphere of influence and mana levels. The game has the look and feel of Populous about it, but the gameplay is considerably different to that of populous despite appearances. The game makes you you ... ...can alter the fact that Black and White is flawed gameplay-wise, making it good fun to play for a while but ultimately rather shallow despite all its innovations and high aspirations. Its a great game for younger players as it offers freedom of movement and constructive and creative gameplay, and is great fun for casual gamers too, but hardcore gamers are likely to be left looking for something with a little more structure after not too long. Summary: ...

Survival horror at it's very best - the definitive Resident Evil
Advantages: Great graphics, great gameplay, intriguing story Disadvantages: None, really
Development of Resident Evil 2 began shortly after it became obvious that its predecessor was going to be a massive success. It was originally scheduled to be released in early 1997, but after reviewing an almost complete version of the game, Capcom decided they didn't like what they saw. Rather than rush out an inferior game like so many others would have done, they instead opted to scrap it, effectively starting again from scratch. Resi 2 subsequently ... ...Well, they needn't have been. Resident Evil 2 rocked. It rocked back in 1998, and it still rocks today. Much like James Cameron's Aliens, Resident Evil 2 took the basic premise of its predecessor, kept the stuff that worked, threw away the stuff that didn't, and chucked in bucketloads more action for good measure. Whereas Resident Evil was a slow-paced survival horror, relying as much on subtle tension as gunplay, its sequel is a balls-to-the wall ...

The Blur in Blue!
Advantages: Fast paced, great music, variety of zones Disadvantages: Few levels
Sonic The Hedgehog was born in 1991, and quickly became the mascot for Sega during the 90's through its master system, and mega drive consoles. I myself, was, and still is, a massive Sonic fan - you were either a Sonic or Mario follower, and over the years, I cannot accept the fact that slowly but surely, Sega have began to kill the character, which ultimately brought the Mega Drive to its peak status! Let's hope that the latest proposal, Porject ... ...moment, its safe to say Sonic is clutching onto life with a thread.... lets hope Project Needlemouse isn't the final nail in the coffin - I'd be absolutely gutted if it was. I thought it was only right that I'd review the original game, which started it all for me! Gameplay Dr Robotnik, the evil scientist, has flooded parts of the island with robots ( badniks) and it is up to Sonic to progess through these zones in order to defeat Dr Robotnik, ...

spyro is cool
Advantages: cool Disadvantages: ?
...begin with our purple dragon, Spyro landing from his most recent adventure, and something is wrong with he, and the other dragons! At this time instead of frying maybe another bug to feast on all they can do is freeze someone with ice breath. Your job, as Spyro, is to capture many fireflies and get them to the other dragons to restore their fiery breaths. Oh and as you play this game you'll get more ways to trap and destroy the enemy, and you'll ... ...of breaths, you'll be able to fry some enemies with your open flame, give your enemies the "shock" of their lives with a swwweeeeeeeettt zap of electricity, freeze some one to the point of freezer burn, and so on. The graphics are great as a cartridge game. Got to say, it's a great game! ...

MSR - No Pandemic But Still Worth Catching
Advantages: Looks gorgeous, three huge cities, near-endless challenges, 'Kudos' Disadvantages: Unforgiving, difficult, uninspiring cars, 'Kudos'
...fun. To a large degree, Metropolis Street Racer attempts to replicate the formula, but in a much more extreme fashion.
You want super-cars, insane speeds and real-life circuits recreated down to the last bump, right? Well, you've come to the wrong place. Whilst Gran Turismo proudly proclaimed that it was the 'Real Driving Simulator', the term is perhaps more befitting of MSR, which features relatively little in the way of actual racing (at least ... ...had reached Chapter 13.
Metropolis Street Racer can be immensely satisfying, though you have to be prepared for a long slog in order to conquer it. At first, the tight, winding circuits seem at odds with the encouragement of powerslides and you'll end up hitting lots of barriers and other cars (lucky there are no damage parameters), but gradually as you grow in confidence, discover the fastest lines and shave tenths of your lap-times, you find the ...
