Who is going to cut the cord

Advantages: A truly, great novel and good introduction to Lawrence.
Disadvantages: The idea of a rigid class system is dated.

I was first introduced to the works of D H Lawrence by my English literature teacher and I have read and re-read many of his novels. But my favourite remains the largely autobiographical “Sons and Lovers”, written in 1913. Set in the mining ...

The weaver and the foundling.

Advantages: shorter and more accesible than some of her works.
Disadvantages: not as deep or realistic as some works by Eliot.

Silas marner is one of George Eliot's shorter works, and in my opinion is not one of her stronger pieces - the first half is excellent and full of dark realism but in the second half she seems to succumb to Victorian sentimintality. The Story: Silas ma ...
