For many years I have used Clean & Clear's Cleansing Lotion for sensitive skin as part of my daily routine and I guess I'd just got into a rut. It had always been fairly effective and they recently even improved the fragrance, which was nice.
However, on my recent trip to the chemist I encounterd Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Cleanser. Now Blackheads are a bit of a taboo subject and noone really wants to admit to getting them, but recently I have had one or two and I just didn't know how to deal with them. At £3.99 the cleanser was slightly more expensive than my usual purchase, but I figured it would be worth the extra pennies if it cleared my new spots.
The bottle claims that you can see "Results from Day 1", which I was highly sceptical of. Upon applying a little of the liquid to a cotton wool pad and sweeping it over my face I could see the same effect on the pad that my usual cleanser had: all the horrid dirt and grime from the day had now been transferred to the cotton wool - lovely. It made me feel cleaner though. Another difference I noted was that my face felt more tingly than usual. I think this Blackhead Clearing Cleanser has a stronger formula than the sensitive skin ordinary formula I'd been using before. Now I don't have particularly sensitive skin, but I think its worth noting how strong the cleanser is because it could cause an adverse reaction to someone who does. Perhaps testing the cleanser on a small patch of skin before use would be a good plan.
So my initial reaction was that it was stronger than my usual cleanser and more expensive and perhaps didn't smell as nice - in fact the smell is rather like hint of melon over base of something that's gone slightly rotten (this isn't a very pungent smell though). On the whole, I wasn't impressed enough to have paid more for what is essentially just a worse smelling product...
... BUT THEN after two days of use I think my skin appeared far clearer than it had been for ages. Any inflammed spots had reduced in size and blackheads were on their way to nonextistance! I was highly impressed with this new cleanser!
I'd definatley recommend it to other buyers. Its about £3.99 for 200ml and you only need a small amount on a piece of cotton wool to do your face and then perhaps the same again for your neck. This is a quick and simple process as you don't even need any water. I used to take my old cleanser with me travelling and I'd definatley take this one too. I find the bottle lasts for many months even when used daily. The smell's not quite as pleasant as the previous one, but the results certainly outweight this downside. Also the label has the word "Blackhead" in big bold white lettering, which isn't so attractive on my shelf, but it certainly stops them appearing in big bold spots on my face, so its a good compromise!
Definatley avoid getting this near your eyes - its strong stuff and contains a lot of alcohol. Another piece of advice I'd suggest would be to team this cleanser up with Clean & Clear's Advantage Quick Clear Treatment Gel which, again, is £3-5 and therefore isn't cheap, but it certainly gets results in a short space of time.
On the whole this is a good buy - its quick, effective and a bottle lasts ages. Th smell and the price aren't too attractive (at least not to me on my poor student income, or lack of), but your skin certainly will be!
Advantages: Clears blackheads and spots Disadvantages: None
...is. Now that I’ve found Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Cleanser, my search is finally over.
I bought this product after seeing it advertised on TV. The advert was just what you’d expect, a pretty girl with a perfect complexion, who’s probably never had a spot in her life, using the product, and her equally fresh-faced friend saying, ‘but you don’t have any blackheads’, to which she replies, ‘exactly’.
... ...the bottle are both the Clean & Clear, and the Johnson & Johnson logos, the nae of the product, and a brief description of what the product does, which reads, ‘Helps clear blackheads and prevent spots’. On the back of the bottle is a more detailed description of what the product does, directions, a caution which reads, ‘For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. If contact occurs, immediately flush with water. Discontinue use ...

Advantages: Does what it says on the tin! Disadvantages: Can dry skin
It's probably obvious by my recent reviews that I’m having major problems with my skin at the minute. Much as I love my dermalogica stuff, it's too expensive for use all the time, so I was looking for cheaper alternatives. After reading some really good reviews about this, I was intrigued, & went to buy some. I was then stopped by boyf, who had a bottle of this, unused, & gave it to me, so technically, this cost me nothing!

I use this every morning, before I go to work, as I use an exfollant at night, to get rid of some of the dry patches that appears on my skin. It's recommended to be used once a day.
The cleanser itself is in a flip lid bottle, and unlike most cleansers, is a liquid form, which you use by applying it to cotton wool. It is sometimes difficult to get the right amount onto ...

Advantages: It works! Disadvantages: May be compromised by poor skin regimes.
...did leave my face feeling clean after using it. In my seemingly endless search for a skin regime that would leave me blackhead-free, it eventually got consigned to the back of my bathroom cabinet and generally forgotten about.
Just under a month ago, having changed cleanser and moisturiser to products that actually suit my skin type, and also having stopped wearing make-up, I pulled the blue bottle back out of my cabinet, blew off the dust, and ... ...utter desperation as a particularly bad breakout of red, raised blackheads left me with no choice but to attack my face invaders with brute force, leaving my face looking a blotchy mess. I wasn't expecting miracles, but, as my face started to heal, I noticed something.
I wasn't getting any more blackheads.
Normally, not a week goes by without several blackheads turning into ugly little bumps on my skin, but for once there was nothing.
It wasn't ...

yes, it's true. unfortunate, but true. blackheads are the worst things in the world and i would do anything to get rid of them! after seeing the advert i thought i was saved - hah! i've been using this product for about 2-3 weeks now, and I cannot see as much difference as I would have liked. my blackheads are a little less prevalent, but this product performs this function and this function only. it does NOT fight spots; it does NOT moisturise; ... ...does NOT smell good. Seriously...the smell - woah! not for the fainthearted! i think it's supposed to be 'fruit acid' or somethin...well it just smells of regular hydrochloric acid! and that's sort of how it feels on your skin. the bottle advertises a 'tingly sensation' - to me it feels like i will wake up in the morning with no skin. it TOTALLY dries your skin out too - i have dry skin at the best of times, and what i dont need is a product to make ...

Advantages: Cheap, "age-friendly", does what is says on the bottle Disadvantages: Nada
Of all the Clean and Clear products (and I\'ve tried most), this is by far the best. I\'ve used the astringent for sensitive skin (light blue) and the blackheadclearing toner (purple) and neither have had a significant effect.
I don\'t suffer acne but do get the occasional breakout and they take forever to go - damn them! As I\'m in my thirties, I prefer non-drying products that are not so harsh so steer well clear of your clearasil/oxy general teenage lotions. I don't find tea tree oil phenomenally effective either and because I dont have the budget for the more upmarket products, this is as good as it gets for me.
And good it does get. The toner is fairly potent although not totally unpleasant smelling. You may feel a tingling sensation but this should subside and it really is almost psychological, as though you are feeling ...
