I have a huge amount of beauty products so I rarely run out of anything. I was surprised a few weeks ago to realise that I was coming to the end of a tube of face scrub and didn't have another one in the huge box under my bed. As I was going into town the next day I decided to get myself a new one.
So I went into Boots and I was standing looking at the shelf for ages, and I could have swore that I chose a new face scrub, but when I got home I realised that not only was there not one in my bag, but it wasn't on the receipt either. Goodness knows what happened there, but I was panicked because having dry skin I need to exfoliate regularly, and I needed a new scrub! I walked round to my local chemist but they didn't have any, so I decided to try Somerfield. The only thing they had was Clean & Clear exfoliating daily wash. This is a cleanser which exfoliates as well, and although I didn't particularly want to change cleansers, I decided that this would do until I could get back into town.
~About the product~
The Clean & Clear range is made by Johnson & Johsnon. This wash contains micro-beads which not only remove dirt and oil, but also get rid of the dead skin cells that can block pores, and cause spots and blackheads.
~Packaging~
The packaging of the one I have is slightly different to the one pictured above.
It comes in a blue squeezy tube which stands on a purple coloured lid. The packaging is quite plain and simple - there's nothing glamorous about it, and it's not one of those things that you can display on the bathroom shelf, but it's what's inside that counts.
~Using it~
The wash is a white in colour and contains lots of small white grains. I was not impressed with the smell of this stuff at all - the smell can only really be described as soapy. It's not necessarily unpleasant, but I just found that it reminded me of washing up liquid!
When you apply the wash to the skin, you can feel the micro-beads against your skin. They feel quite gentle, which I suppose is probably a good thing as this is designed for daily use, as if it were any harsher it would probably strip your skin off, using it so frequently.
~Results~
This definitely does leave my skin clean, but it didn't shift my eye make-up - although it doesn't actually say anywhere that it would.
I do get the odd spot, but my skin is quite clear generally, so I can't comment on whether or not it helped combat spots, but it certainly didn't get rid of any of the blackheads on my nose.
As for exfoliating, I didn't find that it was strong enough to get rid of the dry patches of skin on my face - in fact I found that it hardly exfoliated my skin at all. After about a week of using this, I found that it was beginning to make my skin feel very dry and tight. I also noticed that the dry patch of skin I seem to get between my eyebrows was getting a lot worse as it hadn't been sloughed away by this scrub, and I was also beginning to get dry patches on my cheeks as well, so I stopped using it.
~Price~
I think this was £3.99 in Somerfield, but you can get it in Boots for £2.79 for a 150ml bottle.
~Conclusion~
Now that I have bought a new face scrub, I wont be using this again. Although it left my skin clean, that was the only real plus point as I found my skin became dry and horrible, and I don't think this is strong enough to exfoliate very dry skin like mine.

I used this (once!) and left the bathroom looking like I'd had my face sandblasted. Boyf uses it on his manly face and is fine. Don't try the menthol one - owwww!!
Advantages: can be used as a stand alone product w/o the rest of the line. Instant see-the-difference results Disadvantages: the fresh face doesn't seem to be lon term, can sometimes leave face feeling a little dry. pricey
