Advantages: Reduced spots, worked quickly, absorbed well Disadvantages: Dried my skin, stang slightly, doesn't work on everyone
Recently I’ve been having some problems with spots. These are unfair spots as in they haven’t been brought on my bad diet, a poor facial care routine or any other factor I can think of, I lead a pretty healthy lifestyle with lots of exercise, water and a good diet and yet they keep coming! These are unfair spots as in they haven’t been brought on my bad diet, a poor facial care routine or any other factor I can think of, I lead a pretty healthy lifestyle with lots of exercise, water and a good diet and yet they keep coming! They are particularly nasty spots as well, big, red lumpy ones which hurt if you squeeze (although obviously you wouldn’t do this!!). In my attempt to get rid I have tried everything I can think of from changing my skin routine, cleansers, exfoliaters, masks, down to using tea tree oil as spot treatment; I changed my diet, drank more water, increased my fruit intake and none of this helped these nasty spots!! Most my skin looks healthy, alive and happy… there are just a few things ruining it!!
I was going pretty mad with the whole spot thing and was prepared to try pretty much anything! So while in Sainsbury’s with the mother I slipped a box of ‘Clean and Clear Advantage Quick Clear Spot Treatment Gel’ – which is rather a mouthful – the box cost between £3-4, but as I had cleverly planned my purchase I didn’t actually pay…
To be honest I didn’t hold that much hope for the gel. I have used a couple of other gels in my time and I haven’t had all that much success with them, but I was willing to give it a go, especially as it promised results in as little as 4 hours! So when I got home I gave it a go.
Inside the box is a 15ml tube of the gel, unfortunately it is the type of tube that needs squeezing a fair amount before anything comes out and then it usually splurts out in a blob far bigger than you needed, so do be careful with getting it out! Then just apply the gel to the spot and leave it. As you apply it does tingle and sting a little, however I always saw this as at least something was happening!! I was quite impressed with the way it dried, the box had promised the gel was suitable to use under and over makeup but I didn’t believe this, in my experience gels like this dry sticky, leaving a clear film over the spot. I don’t wear makeup in the summer but I was still impressed when it dried or absorbed or whatever these things do so that there was nothing left!
I left it for four hours, or more, or less (I didn’t time it I’m afraid) and according to the box the ‘unique formula containing spot-fighting ingredients, quickly rebalanced the level of oil’. Well something happened because the spots had changed, they were smaller, less red; the smaller ones had completely gone!
I have kept using it on my skin, and while it hasn’t solved my problem, I still have spots of unknown sources attacking me, but with this gel I seem to be able to stop them from getting too bad, and I just hope they’ll completely go at some point… soon!! One side affect I have noticed though is it has left the skin where I put it flakey and dry, this may seem a big issue to some people but I have quite dry skin and often suffer from this flakiness that exfoliations and intense moisturisers cannot solve, but with it keeping the skin moisturised makes the dry skin vanish so I don’t see it as an issue.
In summary I would say that while this product will not give you clear skin, to get that you need to stop spots from coming in the first place I would say it does work well. Having just looked in the mirror, where two days ago my skin had 5 big spots on my cheek, forehead and chin as well as smaller ones there is now just a slight red reminder of a particularly vicious one on my cheek on its way out! The only issue I have had is the dry skin. According to the other reviews on this site it hasn’t worked for everyone, but under £4 I think it is definitely worth a try.
Advantages: gets to work after 4 hours, made my spots shrink, reduced redness Disadvantages: none
...was on offer, 2 Clean & Clear productsfor £4.99 which is quite good as most of the products are over £3.00 anyway!
The product itself is in a small box and when opened is a small 15ml tube. The packaging is quite nice its silvery purple with dark purple writing. It promises on the front of the package, "Reduces spots in 4 hours" brilliant.
The information on the back of the packaging tells us that, "Its unique formula containing spot-fighting ingredients ... ...bacteria and effectively purifies the skin, all without irritating or over-drying" and it tells us how to use,"Apply the invisible gel directly onto the spot. Suitable to use under and over make-up, whenever needed".
I have no idea where my spots started to come from on the right side of my face, grrr! I usually have quite clear skin so I am quite baffled..anyway I thought I'd give this a go!
I washed my face using the Shine Control wash that I ...

Advantages: Errr......none? Disadvantages: It doesn't work!
...to choose? I spotted Clean and Clear Quick Clear Treatment Gel and remembered having seen it recently advertised on TV. The advert went something like this: 2 girls talking about a party the following evening
Girl 1 has a spot so says she can’t go
Girl 2 introduces her to Clean and Clear Quick Clear Treatment Gel
Girl 1 tries Clean and Clear Quick Clear Treatment Gel and wakes up in the morning with no spot
Hurray she will go to the ball…happily ... ...normal cleansing regime, I applied Clean and Clear Quick Clear Treatment Gel to my spot.
The next morning I awoke to find (cue horror film music) my spot was still there. Neither redness nor spot size had visibly reduced overnight! How could this be? I applied Clear Quick Clear Treatment Gel morning and evening (for several days) as directed (by the tube) but to no avail; my spot disappeared no quicker than it would have done on its own accord. ...

In the past i have tried many different spot creams to get rid of my spots.Which as usual didnt work.I saw the advert for this one and i was lured into the sense that it would actually work.
It was very expensive but i was very eager to try it when i read "Reduces spots in 4 hours" it was on offer so i decided to give it try.
The gel is clear and squeezes out so it was quite easy to use.The first time i used it i believed there was a difference ... ...when you apply it for the first couple of minutes it stings like mad.
So i kept using it but none of my spots reduced in size or redness and the gel does not propably stay on the spot. The stinging was getting really bad so i stopped using it.
I am very dissapointed with this spot gel which claims to "reduce spot size in 4 hours".I also spent a lot of money on this product which has been wasted and almost all of the tube left over. But however some ...

I have always used a variety of skin products to try and help clear my skin, I had seen this products advertised alot and in the shops and always wanted to buy it but was put off because of the price, luckily one day it was on a offer saving you a pound so thought i would buy it and give it a go, I was eager to try it as it said that it could reduce spots in just 4 hours. When I got home I immediately put the product over my spots even though I still ... ...that it would still work over make up. After about 10 seconds of the product being put on my skin it was stinging my skin and felt abit like it was burning, I decided to leave it on my skin and after a while it stopped stinging. I looked in the mirror and noticed the skin around my spots had gone very dry and was very noticable over my make up, so thats two flaws i had found out from the product already. I have now been using this product for 3 days ...

Advantages: The product does work after a couple of days application Disadvantages: Smell
I was very sceptical about trying this product. I have tried many 'off the shelf' skincare brands before and as I have combination skin, which is sensitive and sometimes oily, they have left my skin sore and very red. I have to be honest and say I wasn't holding out much hope for this product working, but I was desparate to try and get something to help the painful, red lumps on my chin. It says on the tube that it reduces spots in 4 hours. For me ... ...later. The spot wasn't so sore but was still there. It hadn't got any smaller. After about 3 days the spots which I had applied this gel to had virtually disappeared. I applied this gel to my spots about 2-3 per day. The main thing that put me off was the strong smell of what I think is probably the alcohol but it does wear off after a few minutes. I found that it did sting sometimes when the gel was applied but it wouldn't put me off buying it because ...

Advantages: It works and lasts for a long time Disadvantages: Fairly expensive
. The smell's not quite as pleasant as the previous one, but the results certainly outweight this downside. Also the label has the word "Blackhead" in big bold white lettering, which isn't so attractive on my shelf, but it certainly stops them appearing in big bold spots on my face, so its a good compromise!
Definatley avoid getting this near your eyes - its strong stuff and contains a lot of alcohol. Another piece of advice I'd suggest would be to team this cleanser up with Clean & Clear's Advantage QuickClearTreatmentGel which, again, is £3-5 and therefore isn't cheap, but it certainly gets results in a short space of time.
On the whole this is a good buy - its quick, effective and a bottle lasts ages. Th smell and the price aren't too attractive (at least not to me on my poor student income, or lack of), but your skin certainly will ...
