...just sent me the normal Clearblue with the + or - sign. I kept it anyway, and after unpacking the shopping a went to the loo to try again. When I came back up, myself and my hubby waited for the result, I could see nothing, but my hubby was sure he could see a faint line. This was in the evening and the artificial light wasn't helping things. I refused to get excited. My period was due the next day (Christmas Eve) and we would know then. When Christmas ... ...and bought a digital Clear Blue. We tested that night, you know the usual, wee on the absorbent stick and hey presto within 3 minutes of looking at an Egg timer icon we were staring at the word 'PREGNANT' on the LCD screen. What a lovely Christmas present.
The Clear Blue digital test said on the box that it could detect pregnancy as early as 4 days before the period was expected, although there was fine print to say that this wasn't in all cases. ...

Advantages: A very easy and quick test, no waiting about for results (well, 1 minute!), Available in any chemist or supermarket Disadvantages: Expensive for something you can get done at the doctors for free!
...or not! I chose Clearblue for the simple reason that it's a well known and respected brand and claims that it's over 99% accurate on the box. This sounds perfect. :o)
Now, pregnancy tests work by detecting tiny amounts of hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotrophin) in a sample of your urine. This is the human pregnancy hormone and Clearblue can trace this in your urine from the day your period is due, this is good news for me as my period should have officially ... ...BOX oOoOo
The Clearblue test comes in a very clinical looking box. For some reason, this reassured me more than seeing the Boots own label test which is in a highly decorated pink box. I think if I wanted to be pregnant then I might have gone for the Boots test as it seemed more like good news, but under the circumstances a more 'official' looking box seemed more appropriate.
The box is basically a blue cardboard box with the Clearblue name and ...

Mum's The Word Review ofClearblue Pregnancy Test Kitby

Advantages: Unmistakeable results in less than 3 minutes. Disadvantages: Cost
...a new product in the Clearblue range. It is a new digital test that claims to give “Unmistakable Results”.
The box contains 3 tests and costs just £14.99 so it works out cheaper per test than the single test stick that retails at £8.99 or the double test kit at £11.99. I still think this is expensive and you could get tested by your doctor for free but when you suspect you may be pregnant you do not want to be waiting for an appointment or waiting ... ...much darker line.
All Clearblue tests are 99% accurate so you can be pretty sure you have the right result. They are even more sensitive than the tests done by your doctor and most doctors will take your word for it that you are pregnant if you have had a positive result from a home pregnancy test.
The instructions are well written and very easy to follow using diagrams and there is a question and answer section on the back if anything needs clarification. ...

Advantages: Easy to use, quick results Disadvantages: The price
...that way!). I usually use Clearblue tests as are they are so straightforward. No messing about with chemicals – just pee on a stick! Even a bloke could manage that!
Clearblue One minute Pregnancy test (to give it its full name) comes in a blue box which has a cellophane wrapper round it. This ensures that it has not been tampered with in anyway. On the box is a pink flash which states that it is ‘The brand most recommended by doctors ... ...which is produced in pregnancy. Clearblue can detect tiny amounts of this hormone. Unlike some pregnancy testing kits, you do not have to use an early morning urine sample. However, you should avoid drinking excessive amounts before taking the test as this can dilute the hormone and make the test difficult to read.
Occasionally, some fertility drugs and rare medical conditions can give misleading results, however usually Clearblue is more than 99% ...

...the pregnancy hormone". With the Clearblue and many other tests this can be detected from as early as the day your period is due. You also can test at any time of the day, you don't need to do it early morning. You would not believe the amount of women who have told me they first found out they were pregnant in the loo at our local Tescos! See they buy the tests (and get clubcard points) then they can't wait till they get home so they nip in the ... ...Clearblue test you need to hold the absorbent sampler (little stick like bit) under your urine stream for 5 seconds. If you find this hard to do (hey women were not built to pee on sticks – men were) you can collect a sample of urine in a container and immerse the sampler for 20 seconds. This is one of the things I like about the Clearblue test, they give the instructions for using a container most of the other tests I have tried don't give ...

(4) Wait for the results to appear. Two lines in the window mean that you are pregnant. Only one line in the window means that you are not pregnant.

I bought this for £11.29 (packet of two) from Boots. Compared to similar products on the market, this is decent value:
£11.49 – Clearblue Twin PregnancyTestKit (pack of two)
£11.29 – Predictor PregnancyTestKit (pack of two)
£8.99 – Boots Home PregnancyTestKit (pack of two)

The First Response test claims to be 99% accurate. In my experience, it was not that (unless I am the 1%!). I was keen to know as early as possible if I was pregnant, because I planned on taking some valium for a flight and later in the week...

...Peeing on a stick! Not the most elegant thing in the world but something that is necessary if you want to find out whether or not sex has resulted in something other than a damp patch! Yes, we’re talking pregnancytests here. A few weeks ago I was in the situation of needing to do a pregnancytest again so trotted off to Boots to buy a testingkit.
Having already written an opinion on Clearbluepregnancytests, I decided I might as well buy a different brand this time so I could at least squeeze another opinion out of it! There on the shelves I spied the pink box of Predictor pregnancytests. ‘Greater reassurance’ it proclaimed. So into the basket it went.
The box is covered in a cellophane wrapper to ensure it has not been tampered with. Basic instructions are printed on the box, but there are more detailed...

...After trying to conceive for the last 9 months I decided to invest £20 in an ovulation prediction kit to see if that would improve my chances. I'd read about these in a baby forum which I frequent and they were well recommended by those who had used them. I bought the ClearPlan kit as it is made by the same manufacturers as ClearBluepregnancytests.
~~~~ How They Work ~~~~
The CleaPlan kit comes with 5 tests which you should use on 5 consecutive days. The tests detect the level of lutinising hormone (LH) in your urine. LH should always be present but will levels will rise just before ovulation. Once you have detected your LH surge you know that you will ovulate within the next 24 to 36 hours. Making love at your most fertile time gives you a better chance of becoming pregnant. These should not be used as a contraceptive method due...
