"Tenerife meets Las Vegas...."

Whilst the hotel looks impressive in the brochure, don't be fooled!

The cleopatra hotel is part of 5 hotels situated in the mare nostrum resort in Playa Las Americas, Tenerife. It offers a choice of 5 hotels, all different from each other, depending on personal taste. The other hotels, Mediterranean Palace, Sir Anthony, Julio Cesar Palace and Marco Antonio are all situted within easy reach of each other with excellent facilites, 4 swimming pools, daily activities (water areobics, yoga etc) bike hire, health club, gym, 13 resturants and inhouse club room.

The real let down with the hotel is the interior in each of the hotels, all marble decor with an unslightly mirrored, black and gold theme throughout which would have looked fab in 1975 and I doudt has ever seen a re-furbishment since, which is a shame considering the amount of potential existing in the whole resort.

What is classed as a 5 star, would be lucky to reach a three star in England and considering rival 5 stars around, I was shocked to discover no plans are to be made to upgrade any of the hotels.

The Cleopatra Hotel, offers the worst customer service throughout the whole complex, most staff members look constantly bored and have little desire to assist you with any advice. If possible I would avoid the breakfast unless you wake up just as it opens. I had an experience with a member of staff regarding coffee whereas I asked if it was possible for a jug, he walked over to an empty table picked up the jug and brought it over to me, when I asked if I could have a fresh jug, the waiter tutted before storming off to fill the same half full cold jug of coffee with fresh hot water. Which would have been fine if I hadn't been watching in disbelief!

Needless to say I didn't drink the coffee.

The rooms are comfortable and well worth checking the patio doors close and lock before you accept the room and if you are not happy, speak up and they will be happy to move you to another room if required.

The interior are fantastic, with almost 8ft mirrored wardrobes, ample hangers for a week, a safe (2.00 euro's a day), drawers, Sat TV (all news channels), mini bar, kingsize beds and either a balcony or terrace. The marble bathrooms come with complimentary slippers, bathrobe and an array of goodies (razor, shampoo etc).

A maid service is available every day.

The cost for one week in this hotel ranges from 600.00 (last to 1,000 (Thomson Holidays) it's worth applying to the hotel direct for a better rate and you could save almost 600.00.

Overall I would give this hotel a miss and look for something better for your money, our first room was located under an air conditioning unit which literally shock the room until all hours of the morning only to start again at 6.15am. When we complained to the hotel manager about the vibrations and noise (which sounded like a helicopter taking off) the manager could not understand the complaint, but finally agreed to move us to another room.

It's also worth mentioning the resturants are all buffet, so don't be fooled with the promise of different cruisnes although you have Italian, Spanish, Russian etc it doesn't mean the type of food you will get it's just names to help identify where you can eat your "Next" buffet! Yum yum!

No mention of the advert which is what the review should be concentrating on

As this review is placed in the category for the tv advertisment rather than for the actual hotel you need to get the review moved. Please ask if you need help with this.
