My Clifford Concept 300 was supplied with my Audi which had been purchased for £400 c/w an anti-tilt switch (for protecting those nice alloys) inc installation. Both the previous owner and I had heard horror stories about Clifford's but had also realised they were a phenomenal product. The solution was to pay that bit extra and to buy it and have it installed by the top people in the area Imperial Securities in Tipton West Midlands. Installation took a whole day and was completed to an impeccable standard.
The Alarm is Thatcham Catergory 1 which means it has both an immobiliser and an alarm which have to meet stringent standards and also has the nice benefit of a reduction in car insurance premiums.
Well, the package is supplied with two fobs (one being a spare) one of course is essential to lock and unlock the car. If you lose it-forget it! As for functions, it has an immobiliser, a screeching 120dB alarm, impact sensor, central locking control (activated on turning the ignition key), valet mode for when the car is being cleaned so the alarm isn't accidentally triggered and a load of functions such as a cordless link from the contol box to the siren (meaning the theif can't cut any cables to silence the siren), code-grab countermeasures (so the fob can't be duplicated), and an independent power source (so a car theif cannot just lift the bonnet and disconnect the battery). All in all this will give a car thief an awful lot of headaches. It can be upgraded to include a Blakjax Anti Car Jack mode(which has resulted in a car jacking in Smethwick, West Midlands being foiled and probably saved the owner's life)
So a very comprehensive package.
And the drawbacks?
I cannot stress this enough it needs the best installers available. Mine was fitted by a business where Clifford makes up 90% of their installation work. The instructions are poor and the number of functions require repeated key fob button presses which is difficult at first.
One final note-despite all the advice you will read about putting stickers up in your car window saying you have a Clifford, I would advise against displaying them. A competent car thief will be familiar with a Clifford and may have access to the diagnostic equipment which can neutralise it. This goes for all other car alarms though. In other words, keep'em guessing!
Overall though, thoroughly recommended and a sensible precaution if you have a half decent car.
Advantages: Good visual deterrent, no false alarms Disadvantages: Expensive
...alot of friends, and the Clifford was recommended to me.
I chose a Concept 300. This is one of the cheapest Thatcham 1 approved alarms on the Market, but is probably one of the best. It never goes off in the night on a false alarm. It always locks on the first keypress. It never malfunctions. You can expand it like you would never believe. Any electrical item on your car can be controlled by the alarm. It will cost you, but you can make it do anything. ... ...car? Get this alarm. You want to press a button on your remote to turn on your headlights? Get this alarm. Buy the remote start kit and you can start your car 10 minutes before you leave your house. On a frosty morning, your car will all be nicely defrosted for you, and you can even press a button on the fob to activate your heated seats. It's a decent alarm. I'd recommend it to anyone. Except to pay between £300-400 for a professionally fitted standard ...

I have owned a clifford for about 18 months now and can honestly say that ive had no problems with it. For my £350 I had a qualified person come and install the alarm. It is a cat 1 alarm which saves money on your insurance. Ive never had any problems it never goes off in the middle of the night and the immobaliser has never cut in at the wrong time or anything. It has great features for additional cost. I only opted for the remote headlight button ...

Advantages: reduced insurance premiums. also the brand name sticker and dash light is a theft deterent. Disadvantages: reliability!
the clifford concept range was ideal for me as i knew that the cat 1 imobiliser would lower my insurance premium. although, that is all the concept 300 has been good for. after the first 6 months the alarm unit had to be replaced, as the sensor broke. the sensitivity has been adjusted twice, every time a bus for example went past my car the alarm went off. the concept 300 has the ability to provide full closure if your car is fitted with central ...
